Germany vs Portugal prediction

Germany are the big odds-on favourites to win the Nations League semi-final as they look to progress to face either Spain or France.

Portugal have been strong throughout their Nations League campaign though, so shouldn’t be discounted immediately.

Especially with the types of players they have that can change games at a moments notice.

Portugal held France to a 0-0 draw in July 2024’s UEFA EURO Quarter-finals only losing on penalties in the end.

Since then they’ve also gone on a great run of games, losing just once to Denmark in the quarter-finals of this competition before beating them 5-2 in the second leg.

Germany narrowly beat Italy in the quarter finals over two legs in March though, coming out on top 5-4 on aggregate after a thrilling 3-3 draw at Signal Iduna Park.

Germany went 3-0 up looking to absolutely stun and dominate the Italians in the first half alone, but it was all Italy in the second half, who managed to claw back three goals but it still wasn’t enough to see them into extra time.

Germany have in general been conceding more than we’re probably used to seeing too and that could be crucial in this semi-final.

Germany vs Portugal betting tips

Portugal have a bit of a habit of struggling to score in certain matches – their visit to Hampden Park and Parken are great examples of that.

They will have plenty of attacking chances but it can often not materialise into anything.

That being said, once the goals do come they can come thick and fast.

That paired with Germany’s run of conceding the odd needless goal, could see this tie turn into a great one to watch for the neutrals.

A bet on both teams to score (BTTS) would have landed in six of the last nine games in all competitions for Germany.

While Portugal have seen BTTS in six in their last eight in the Nations League alone.

I still think Germany will come out on top quite convincingly, but if Portugal can nick a goal early on or in immediate response to Germany’s first there could be a few goals in this clash.
