Gervonta Davis’ 30th birthday celebrations have been crashed by boxing fans, who have taken to social media in their waves to bash his résumé.

The undefeated American is currently ranked No.8 in the Ring Magazine pound-for-pound ratings and is a two-weight world champion.

However, several fans claim he has never fought a truly elite opponent.

Underneath a social media post laying out his legacy at 30, one supporter wrote: “All that talent. World champion at 22.

“And by 30 still has not fought an elite guy. Smdh. What a waste.”

Another added: “Never fought a reigning champ at 135 [pounds].”

A third tweeted: “Considering his talents, that resume is very underwhelming.”

Somebody else posted: “30 years and fought ‘nobody’, only cherry-picked cab drivers and inserted re-hydration clauses for the ones that pose any threat.”

Meanwhile, a fifth account remarked: “Such a great talent with such an average resume.”

Davis first became a world champion at the age of 22 by snatching the IBF super featherweight title from Jose Pedraza.

‘Tank’ then missed weight ahead of his second defence against Francisco Fonseca and so was stripped on the scales.

One year later he added the WBA super featherweight belt to his collection by flattening Jesus Cueller before moving up to lightweight to win the lesser WBA ‘regular’ title.

He was eventually upgraded to full world champion in November 2023 when Devin Haney relinquished the full title to move up to super lightweight.

His first defence came against Frank Martin in June, who he blew away in round eight after knocking out Ryan Garcia in a non-title fight at a catchweight of 136lbs.

Garcia is widely considered to be his best win on paper, however, the 10lbs rehydration clause inserted into ‘King Ry’s’ contract has left an asterisk next to the win for many fans.

Despite this, Garcia refused to blame the defeat on being weight-drained during his post-fight press conference.

“I mean, from an honest perception of it, I didn’t feel too good,” he said.

“I mean, I felt a little weak, you know, going into the ring.

“My legs didn’t feel too much under me, but once the fight got going, you know, it kinda all came together.

“So, I can’t really pin it on that too much.”
