Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach: Odds, betting tips, undercard, and more

Fresh from Dmitrii Bivol’s impressive revenge win over Artur Beterbiev on the stunning show from Saudi Arabia last weekend, fight fans have another standout fixture on the schedule.

One of the biggest and best-followed fighters on the planet returns in Gervonta Davis when he takes on fellow American Lamont Roach in Brooklyn.

The Barclay’s Center will be packed to capacity with the thousands in attendance joining the millions worldwide following the fight live on television. But which fighter will land the win? Davis is expected to extend his unbeaten record to 31, but Tank hasn’t fought since June 2024 and has boxed just eight rounds since stopping Ryan Garcia inside seven in Las Vegas approaching two years ago.

Lamont is the underdog on fight night but knows he has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Score an upset win in Brooklyn, becoming the first man to defeat Gervonta as a professional fighter, and Lamont’s career will change overnight. Can he spoil the party?

Former professional boxer and successful sports betting writer Frankie Monkhouse led talkSPORT readers to profit in each of the last three weeks. Our man used his fight game expertise to predict upset wins for Derek Chisora, Arnold Barboza, and Dmitrii Bivol. He plots to land another crushing blow to the bookies in his Davis vs Roach preview and predictions.

Davis vs Roach odds

Davis is one of the most successful fighters in modern boxing and a man of vast experience. The fighter from Baltimore, Maryland, is the main attraction on fight night, and there are no major surprises in the pre-fight betting odds. Traders working at the leading betting apps have Tank as their favourite for victory, with the odds suggesting it’s a case of how he wins rather than if he wins. That’s a dangerous approach.

As any experienced boxing fan or better already knows, this sport is extremely unpredictable, especially at the highest level. One well-timed punch could change the course of a fight, and it’s that uncertainty that keeps fans coming back for more and encourages bettors to make predictions. Roach has lost only one of his previous 27 bouts, but he’s available at eye-catching odds to beat Davis. Do you fancy the upset?

Traders offer odds on the winner of Davis vs Roach, and you can check the latest prices below. The odds given are correct at the time of writing, but please remember boxing betting odds can and do change.

  • Gervonta Davis to win at 1/20 with Betfred

Davis vs Roach fight outcome odds

You can keep things simple and choose your winner from the fight-winner market. The problem is that Davis is such a short price that it’s hardly worthwhile betting on him unless you’re willing to put down a sizeable stake. We know that comes with its own dangers. Thankfully, there’s plenty of value available in some of the other markets and specials.

The method of victory is my favourite boxing betting market, especially when there’s a short-priced market leader. When looking for bigger odds in the method of victory, you must predict which fighter will win and how they’ll get the result: on points or by knockout. Both halves of the bet must be correct for you to land a profit.

When playing the method of victory betting market in boxing, it pays to study the stats and trends. Does the form of both fighters suggest a long night and a fight settled on points? Perhaps the numbers edge you towards a bet on Davis to win by KO/TKO. Get the latest info and make it fit a market that increases your chances of winning and the odds available.

  • Davis to win by KO/TKO at 1/4 with bet365

Tank is 30-0-0 with 28 KOs

Gervonta Davis is the unbeaten 30-year-old ranked as the number-one lightweight in the world. Tank has won each of his previous 30 fights in impressive fashion, scoring 28 knockouts to raise a 93% KO average. The 5’ 5” orthodox boxer may compete in one of boxing’s smaller weight categories, but he holds ferocious power and is a pound-for-pound. Another showreel KO would remind fans of his qualities and help get his career back on track following a period of inactivity.

The biggest win of Davis’ career came when he stopped Ryan Garcia in round seven at the T-Mobile Arena in April 2024. It was the division’s main attraction and was billed as a 50/50, but Tank wasted no time proving his class against a respected opponent. He followed the seventh round stoppage of Garcia by dealing with Frank Martin before the end of round eight last time. Davis was the favourite that night and showed why when taking the decision out of the judges’ hands.

With a proud unbeaten record and his impressive power, it’s no surprise to see odds-makers falling over themselves to support Tank. He’s the form fighter, has enjoyed a rest from action, carries the support of bookmakers and pundits, and can rely on his concussive power in both hands. Davis will be a popular pick on Saturday.

Stats:

  • Age: 30 years old
  • Height: 5’ 5”
  • Weight: Lightweight
  • Record: 30-0-0

Roach is 25-1-1 with 10 KOs

Lamont Roach will arrive at the Barclay’s Center almost under the radar on fight night. The 29-year-old from Maryland is the underdog who is expected to be little more than a footnote on the report, and the latest name added to his opponent’s hit list. But Lamont arrives with confidence, knowing he’s here on merit and exactly what a win would do for his career. Victory is possible, and Roach knows it.

The 5’ 7” orthodox brings a professional boxing CV detailing 25 wins, one draw, and a single defeat, with 10 victories inside the distance and that one loss coming on the scorecards. The first slight blot on his copybook came when Lamont fought a split decision draw with Orlando Cruz over 10 rounds in San Juan seven years ago. He rallied to win his next three before running into Jamel Herring, losing a 12-round decision in Fresno for the WBO super featherweight world title.

Since that sole loss on his card, Roach has fought six and won six. He scored three stoppages in that run, including an eighth-round win over Feargal McCrory in Washington last summer. Arriving on the back of an extended winning streak, Lamont is likely to attract attention, especially with generous odds available.

Stats:

  • Age: 29 years old
  • Height: 5’ 7”
  • Weight: Lightweight
  • Record: 25-1-1

🥊 Davis vs Roach betting tips

With the scene set for another dramatic night of professional boxing, it’s time to make your predictions. Will Tank continue his winning ways and secure his position as the number one fighter in the division? Will Roach upset the odds to win and change the direction of his career? Here are my three bets on the night with odds from the best boxing betting sites.

Fight not to go the distance

When researching this fight, it’s impossible to ignore Tank’s knockout power. He’ll edge his way into this contest, but the favourite’s power and the fact Roach knows his best chance of winning comes from landing a KO.

I don’t expect to see Saturday’s main event test the judges. Bet on the fight not to last the distance and get 2/11 at bet365. Those odds mean the bet will work best in your weekend multiples and fight night accumulators.

➡ Bet on the fight not to go the distance at 2/11 at bet365

Davis to win by KO/TKO

As the odds are tight in the fight-winner market, we stray into the method of victory betting, where we shoot for Davis to win by KO/TKO. The odds mean it’s a bet that will do a good job in your Saturday accas, and the stats show we’ll get a run for our money.

Betting Davis by KO/TKO would’ve returned a profit in each of Tank’s previous four bouts. More of the same looks likely, and we trust Davis to win inside the distance.

➡ Bet on Davis to win by KO/TKO at 1/4 with bet365

Davis in rounds 7-12

It’s now time to play for a bet at more favourable odds, and we’re backing Tank to win this fight in rounds 7-12. I predict he’ll take his time to find the distance after several months on the sidelines.

The scorecards will be close at the midway point before Tank steps on the accelerator and ends things before the final bell. Back Davis to win, scoring a stoppage anytime between rounds 7 and 12 at evens.
