This year’s renewal looks wide open as usual but with one key difference, a short price favourite at the head of the field having gone on to score the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
It showed the Gavin Cromwell-trained horse has really stepped up a gear having been beaten by Galopin Des Champs in two previous contests.
It also looked like the horse would really thrive stepping up in trip given the way the seven-year-old kicked on.
At this age he’s likely to go on and progress but to be 3/1 for a Grand National, the pressure is on.
Owned by JP McManus who had an incredible Cheltenham Festival there’s chances throughout also owning last year’s winner, I Am Maximus along with Iroko, Perceval Legallois, Capodanno, Chantry House and Limerick Lace.
Non Runner No Bet
bet365’s racing expert Pat Cooney had this to say: “Friday’s Cheltenham Gold Cup winning Inothewayurthinkin is clearly the best handicapped horse in the Aintree Grand National but connections will be in no hurry to confirm his participation in the big race next month.
“We make him a 3/1 chance now we are Non-Runner No Bet. Many think he’ll be even shorter on day if he runs as the race now favours classy horses due to smaller field size limits and easier fences.
“Saturday’s Midland Grand National saw an emphatic win by Mr Vango who made virtually all the running to defy top-weight of 12st. He’s one to consider at our 25/1 with the NRNB angle as he is very much soft ground dependent, and will only run if ground conditions suit.
“Many others are now worth a second look with bet365’s NRNB offer now live.”
