Greg Olsen was Fox’s No.1 guy.

Then Tom Brady came along.

Fox demoted Olsen in favor of Brady and signed the seven-time Super Bowl champion to a ten-year, $375 million deal before the season began.

Olsen, who was on Fox’s No.1 broadcast team and had been winning all of America over in the last couple of years, due to his insightful and easy to explain analysis, was now all of a sudden on the B team.

It wasn’t his fault that he didn’t have Brady’s star power, brand and name recognition.

Fox went after the big fish and got it.

But it came at the expense of Olsen.

And now the former tight end has to just sit there while Brady calls the biggest games, including Super Bowl LIX.

Fans have been very critical of Brady’s first year in the booth, with many preferring Olsen.

In an interview with The Athletic, Olsen talked about the feelings he experienced going from the top team to the No.2 team, knowing it was all out of his control.

“I don’t think resentment’s probably accurate,” Olsen said.

“But I also think it’s not too far off if I’m being honest.

“I don’t have any ill will — there’s no personal resentment towards Tom or, obviously, K.B. (Kevin Burkhardt) and Erin (Andrews).

“I still talk to all of them fairly regularly.

“I’m hoping to see them next week down in New Orleans and grab dinner or a drink and just kind of shoot the s***, catch up.”

When asked what it has been like to not call the big games anymore, Olsen described the feeling as frustration and a sort of helplessness.

“It’s hard to sit there and watch games that over the last couple of years you were preparing for, and you were calling,” Olsen said.

“And then you’re sitting there on your couch and you’re watching the game, you’re almost kind of broadcasting the game in your brain.”

“You’re saying, ‘Oh, man, what would I have said on this play? There was so much to talk about there. That would’ve been super fun to dive into.’

“So you’re kinda driving yourself crazy with all these what-if scenarios as you’re watching the game.

“It’s very hard now to watch the games and just sit back and watch.”

Olsen called the first Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles for Fox two years ago.

Now it will be Brady calling the biggest game of the year, with the same two teams.

Olsen isn’t deterred and has stated that his goal is to get back to the A team.

“My goal is to call top games,” Olsen said.

“I’ve been very adamant about that over the last couple years.

“My goal is still to get back there. I don’t know what that looks like. I don’t know where that takes place.

“But I’m continuing to work towards that goal and hopefully have the opportunity get back to calling these marquee games at some point.”

Whether that’s with Fox or somewhere else remains to be seen.
