Harry Kane on course to smash Cristiano Ronaldo record that Erling Haaland just matched

Harry Kane has smashed plenty of records since joining Bayern Munich and there could be another one in his sights in the not too distant future.

The England captain already has 54 goals in just 51 games since his blockbuster £82million move from Tottenham in 2023.

Trophies continue to evade the 31-year-old, but this could be the season he finally breaks his duck.

Vincent Kompany’s Bayern have been unstoppable in the Bundesliga, winning all four games so far and averaging four goals-a-game.

Kane already has five in the league and 10 in all competitions.

This Saturday sees them take on Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, who beat them to last season’s title, in their biggest test yet.

If Kane can keep firing them you would not bet against him reaching his century of goals this season.

So far at Bayern, he is averaging better than a goal a game (every 0.94 to be precise).

Should he carry on this pace then he is likely to reach 100 goals in his 95th game for the club.

This would beat the record that is jointly held by Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland.

Ronaldo took 105 games to reach 100 goals for Real Madrid after joining from Manchester United.

Haaland reached that milestone this season and had the chance to surpass the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

However, he blanked in Man City’s Champions League clash to reach it in 104 games – before scoring in the very next match against Arsenal.

Another record that could be at risk is Robert Lewandowski’s single-season Bundesliga goal record that he set in the 2020/21 season.

He hit 41 that campaign – breaking the long-standing record that was held by Gerd Muller.

Kane managed 36 in 32 matches last season and is already finding the net every 69 minutes so far in 2024/25.

He has already broken two records this season, becoming the highest scoring Englishman in the Champions League and then the Bundesliga too.

Speaking on Bayern’s fast start to the season, Kane said: “The boss [Kompany] wants us to play with high intensity, even when we are leading 1-0 or 2-0, he wants three, four and five goals. That is our philosophy.

“We want to push the opponents to limits that they cannot maintain. It’s impressive, we’re growing more with every game.”

Bayern Munich are in action against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday at 5.30pm.
