Harry Kane has recalled when Eric Dier told him about his shock plans for retirement, but not from football.
The duo spent nine years together at Tottenham before Kane left for Bayern Munich in 2023, although their separation was short-lived.

Dier initially signed for the German giants on loan from Spurs at the beginning of the year before his move became permanent.
It’s no surprise they’re good friends having played alongside each other not just for two clubs, but also for the England national team.
When he was reunited with Kane, Dier said in his introductory press conference that he’d be taking German and golf lessons with him.
But it seems as though his motivation for the latter disappeared in the summer, so much so he decided to call it quits.
Kane revealed the moment he discovered that Dier was packing the golf clubs away when he appeared on The Rick Shiels Golf Show.
“A good friend of mine, Eric Dier, is going through a bit of a… I’ll give him a little shoutout, he’s going through a bit of a tough spell,” he said.
“He was obsessed with golf and then he had a tough summer playing, he went to some of the best courses. All of a sudden, he’s come back and said he’s retired from golf.”
Kane added: “I can’t get my head around it, so we’re trying to get him back out of retirement to get out there and play.”
“Just need to get him out there and once he has that feeling, I think he’ll be sweet,” the striker also said about Dier potentially returning to the course.
“He’ll be back out there, I’ll get him out there.”

It’ll likely be a while until Dier decides to call time on football given he’s just 30 years old.
The defender, like Kane, is yet to win silverware since joining Bayern but they’ll hope to deliver success this season with Vincent Kompany.
No teammate has played more matches alongside Dier than Kane during his career, a whopping 352 across six different teams.
Only 21 of those have come with Bayern so far, with just two joint appearances being made in the current campaign.
Bayern sit top of the Bundesliga on 20 points, ahead of RB Leipzig on goal difference with eight matches played.
