Emma Navarro is out of the French Open.

The 24-year-old American tennis star was dismantled by an unseeded Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, 6-0, 6-1, on Monday.

It’s a shocking defeat for Navarro

Navarro, who reached the fourth round at the French Open last year, is leaving Paris unceremoniously after a first round upset.

In a shock defeat, the American never really got to pace with the game, with her opponent racing to a 6-0, 5-0 lead and serving for the double bagel.

Commentator Matt Chilton mocked Navarro when he said: “Got the bagel in the first set and now applying smoked salmon and cream cheese to it in the second set.”

The No. 9 seed in Paris would break her serve to avoid the scoreline of 6-0, 6-0, but her defeat is nonetheless still an embarrassing one.

Navarro, who is heir to a $1.5 billion fortune as a result of being the daughter of Ben Navarro, who founded the Sherman Financial Group, will certainly struggle to explain her performance.

The inquest has already begun on social media, with many shocked that a world No.9 could be so easily destroyed at a Grand Slam.

“One of the most shocking performances from a top 10 player that I’ve ever seen,” tennis journalist Jose Morgado wrote on X.

“Shockingly flat from her today,” one fan wrote on X.

Navarro made waves for her journey from billionaire heiress to Wimbledon title contender after knocking out Coco Gauff at last year’s grass court major.

Navarro then called for a rule change after a Australian Open controversy against Iga Swiatek.

For Bouzas Maneiro, it’s another massive Grand Slam win, the Spaniard upset the defending champion Marketa Vondrousova at Wimbledon last year.

After winning within an hour, she spoke about simply being relieved she won.

“Right now I just feel really happy how I played today, how I was handling pressure and nerves for the first round here. Last year was tough for me and I wanted to do my best, and I think I did it, so happy for that,” she said.

“I just think that everything is possible, I try to play my best every match. I have my team here, I knew that I have a lot of support and we prepared as well for the match as we could. Of course I didn’t expect this score, this result! But yeah, I’m happy.

“I have no idea [how I won in 57 minutes]. Really quick, and it’s funny because my team just told me, ‘Is it possible to win a match in two sets?’

“Because the last two were three sets. They said to me, ‘Is that possible?’ I said, ‘I will try to do my best!’ So for you guys, one hour, finally!”

Bouzas Maneiro won 56 out of the 86 total points against the second-richest tennis player.

In fact, she dropped the fewest games against a WTA top 10 opponent at the French Open after Serena Williams against Sara Errani in 2013.

“That is a devastating loss,” said Mark Petchey on truTV. “I feel like there’s an explanation coming.”
