Joe Burrow can’t seem to catch a break this season.
Both on and off the field.
Radio traffic stated that a bedroom window at Burrow’s home was broken and the room at his house was ransacked[/caption]
While he was busy shredding the Dallas Cowboys defense on Monday Night Football at Jerry World, reports of his Cincinnati home being broken into emerged.
WLWT’s Karin Johnson reported that Burrow’s Anderson Township home was broken into during the game.
Johnson noted that a woman had called 911 to report the break in.
“Someone is trying to break into the house right now,” the woman told the 911 dispatch officer.
“My daughter is there. This is Joe Burrow‘s house. She is staying there. He’s at the football game. She’s wondering what she should do, if she should be hiding or if she should go outside.”
The daughter of the woman also called 911, saying, “Someone broke into my house…it’s completely messed up.”
The Hamilton County sheriff’s office confirmed the break-in, but didn’t share any details. It is unclear as to what the woman was doing inside Burrow’s house at the time.
The radio traffic from the night indicates there was an officer on detail at Burrow’s house and that there was a shattered bedroom window, and that the room was ransacked.
The 911 dispatcher confirmed that there was security at Burrow’s house during the time of the robbery.
It is unclear at this time as to what exactly was stolen from the bedroom.
The break in comes weeks after the NFL issued a security alert to NFL teams about groups targeting the homes of professional athletes, calling it a ‘transactional crime ring.’
Patrick Mahomes‘ and Travis Kelce‘s homes have both been burgled in recent months.
It is something the NFL is highly aware of, and trying to prevent going forward.
Unfortunately for Burrow, he was the latest victim of a home invasion.
While Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals escaped Dallas with a 27-20 win, the quarterback probably isn’t going to be in a happy mood having to deal with what took place at his home.
The franchise quarterback signed a five-year $275 million contract extension in September of 2023, which was the richest contract in NFL history at the time.
The Bengals and Burrow are a disappointing 5-8 on the season.
Heading into the year, Cincinnati was a popular Super Bowl pick, but fast forward to December, they have less than a 4% chance to make the playoffs.
However, don’t look at Burrow.
He has been playing at an MVP-level, and would be the favorite to win the award if his team didn’t have a losing record.
He leads the league in passing yards, passing touchdowns and yards per game.
Yet, Cincinnati is more likely than not going to miss the postseason.
Most of the blame can be found on the defensive side of the ball, where they rank last or near the bottom of most categories.
When it rains it pours, and unfortunately for Burrow, that now extends to his home as well.
