Saturday

Ayr 3.00 – Town And Country each way – bet with SBK

Newbury 3.15 – Defence Minister each way – bet with BetMGM

Newbury 5.00 – Monkey Island each way – bet with VBET

Sunday

Plumpton 3.00 – Aucunrisque each way – bet with kwiff

Plumpton 4.50 – Greatness Awaits – bet with Sky Bet

Ayr 3.00 – Town And Country each way

Henry De Bromhead sends over the unexposed TOWN AND COUNTRY for this Group 3 Fillies’ event, and the Irish raider can strike for the in-form team.

The daughter of Earthlight was well beaten on her debut in a Naas Maiden when finishing 7th, but she was probably in need of the run, and the form of that race has worked out extremely well.

The 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th have all won since, so it is fair to say the collateral form of that encounter has a robustness to it. Therefore it was far from a surprise to see her get the job done on her following start when she stayed on powerfully to get up and win in the closing stages of a 5f Maiden at Navan seeing off a rival who had been placed at Listed level.

The manner in which she stayed on suggest a return to this 6f trip should be absolutely ideal, and this improving sort should have a lot more to offer. The yard have to be taken very seriously when they make any foray across the Irish Sea, and I like the each-way claims of this runner with Jim Crowley taking the ride.

Newbury 3.15 – Defence Minister each way

Wathnan Racing are enjoying plenty of success this year, and they can add more big-race glory to the roster here with the exciting DEFENCE MINISTER.

The unbeaten colt made it two from two when quickening up nicely to land a Haydock Novice event last time out, looking very happy on rain-softened ground. Everything should be in place for a big run here as the son of Too Darn Hot steps up in class for this Group 2 assignment.

Who knows where the ceiling of his ability lies and he looks more than worth his place in the line-up on just his third start. James Doyle is on board this 210,000euro Breeze-up purchase for the Hamad Al Jehani stable who are in flying form at present. The Qatari maestro has his string in fine fettle and Defence Minister fits the bill as a lively each-way player.

Newbury 5.00 – Monkey Island each way

The drop back to 7f looks the perfect move for the Brian Meehan trained MONKEY ISLAND who caused an almighty upset when winning at odds of 80/1 over Course and Distance earlier in the season, and the 3-year-old has acquitted himself very well in tougher tasks since.

However, a return to this track and trip look ideal, where a flat 7f look right up his street. He enjoys big fields and should be fine with underfoot conditions, so off a mark of 86 this gelding could easily be getting involved at the business end of proceedings at an each-way price.

Harry Davies is on board who is an excellent judge of pace off the front, so it wouldn’t be a shock if this combination gave their rivals plenty to think about off the front as Monkey Island is not devoid of speed.

Plumpton 3.00 – Aucunrisque each way

AUCUNRISQUE hasn’t been firing on all cylinders as of late, but has to be taken very seriously back at Plumpton where he has a very good record, and he is also looking dangerously well handicapped.

The 8-year-old has two wins and two placed efforts from just the five starts over Course and Distance, so this very much his happy hunting ground. He often runs a big race here and he can do so again, eased to a BHA mark of 130.

When you consider that his last win came off 138 when landing the Betfair Hurdle last year, he is in much calmer waters for this event off an 8lb lower mark. Freddie Gordon is on board taking off 5lb, so he looks too well treated to ignore. I think he looks capable of a big run as an each-way player, and it is worth noting that the cheekpieces that were applied last time out have been binned.

Plumpton 4.50 – Greatness Awaits

The two Bens, Pauling and Jones team up with GREATNESS AWAITS who has been a model of consistency in recent times, but further improvement could be on the cards here for the 5-year-old as he moves up to an extended 2m4f for the first time.

The gelding won at Newton Abbot back in June, and since then has posted two solid efforts in defeat, coming second on both occasions. In both those starts, he ran a similar race, looking a little outpaced, before plugging inside the closing stages, giving the impression that this extra distance today will be absolutely ideal, l as there will naturally be a much greater emphasis on stamina.

He has more on his plate off a mark of 104 today, but that will be offset by the longer trip and this race can go the way of the Cotswold team.
