Jurgen Klopp has found himself a new job and he could be set to work alongside Leeds United.

The former Liverpool manager left Anfield in the summer and has been enjoying a break from football since.

However, Klopp is now set to return to the sport as the Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull in January.

His new role means he will advise Red Bull’s international network of teams on coaching matters, playing philosophy, development and transfers of players and coaches.

The German is going to oversee things at the clubs the energy drink company owns such as RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls and Brazilian side RB Bragantino.

But as well as that, Klopp may also work with Leeds.

Red Bull bought a minority stake in the Elland Road side earlier this year and have become their front-of-shirt sponsor.

The club is currently run by 49ers Enterprises while Hollywood actor Will Ferrell, Russell Crowe, Michael Phelps and Jordan Speith are also investors.

But Red Bull sealed a deal with 49ers Enterprises to take a stake and ‘further empower the club to reach its full competitive potential’.

It means Klopp, as their new Global Head of Soccer, could now have some involvement with Leeds.

Although, Red Bull’s statement doesn’t list the teams he will be working with so it is not yet known if Leeds are included and the job could just be with clubs they own fully.

But when he is unveiled by the company in January, more specific details are expected to be revealed.

And Klopp could well have some involvement in the clubGetty

After Red Bull announced that Klopp will take up a role, they released a statement that read: “In his strategic role, Jurgen Klopp will not be involved in the clubs’ day-to-day operations but will focus on supporting the sports directors in advancing the Red Bull philosophy.

“Additionally, the 57-year-old will support the organisation’s global scouting operation, and contribute to the training and development of coaches.”

The Premier League and Champions League winner with Liverpool then added some words of his own.

Klopp said: “After almost 25 years on the sideline, I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this.

“The role may have changed but my passion for football and the people who make the game what it is has not.

“By joining Red Bull at a global level, I want to develop, improve and support the incredible football talent that we have at our disposal.

“There are many ways that we can do this from using the elite knowledge and experience that Red Bull possesses to learning from other sports and other industries.

“Together we can discover what is possible. I see my role primarily as a mentor for the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs but ultimately I am one part of an organisation that is unique, innovative and forward-looking.

“As I said, this could not excite me more.”
