Willie Mullins is easily the most successful trainer in the history of the Cheltenham Festival with over 100 winners.
He made history by landing his 100th Cheltenham Festival triumph when Jasmin De Vaux stayed on strongly under son Patrick to win the Champion Bumper, which was one of nine winners last year.
The County Kilkenny native started training horses in 1988 (coincidentally the year I was born) and recorded his first Cheltenham winner seven years later when Tourist Attraction landed the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. Many people don’t realise he has actually ridden a Cheltenham Festival winner too having saddled Wither Or Which to success in the 1996 Champion Bumper.
Back Willie Mullins to have over 9 winners with Sky Bet at 11/4
Willie Mullins has dominated the Cheltenham Festival for the best part of 15 years claiming the Leading Trainer accolade 12 times since 2011 including the last seven consecutive years. He is the first trainer ever to train over 100 winners at the Cheltenham Festival and over the last 7 years where he has been top trainer he has averaged over 7 wins per year.
After a slower start to the season than usual he seems to have his horses firing on all fronts heading into the most important week of the year and with a couple of late changes like Lossiemouth potentially heading for the Mares’ and Final Demand now possibly going for the Albert Bartlett he has the potential to be in for a record year.
Willie Mullins Predicted winners for the Cheltenham Festival

Style Wednesday (March 12)

- Gold Cup – GALOPIN DES CHAMPS at 1/2 with Betfred
- Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle – KOPECK DE MEE at 33/10 with SBK
As you can see above I predict him having at least 10 winners at the Cheltenham Festival which would surpass 2024 and match 2022. It really wouldn’t be a surprise if he managed to hit that elusive 11 which would surely be a record that would never be broken?
If he did manage to achieve that it would mean he would train a staggering 39% of the winners at the 2025 Cheltenham Festival which would go down in racing folklore.
