Floyd Mayweather has won big on Super Bowl LIX after the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs.

It was the NFL’s landmark event last night, with the two best teams in Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs and Saquon Barkley’s Eagles, doing battle at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

The Chiefs were looking to score an unprecedented piece of history, by picking up their third consecutive Super Bowl crown.

But Mayweather decided to back the opposition, backing the Eagles to clinch their second ever Super Bowl, having won the competition in 2018.

And the boxing legend placed a $40,000 bet on the franchise, which was the correct choice.

The Eagles romped to a 40-22 victory, to clinch the second title in their history, and leave the Chiefs stunned.

As a result Mayweather pocketed $29,629.65 in total winnings, with the bet returning a tidy $69,629.65.

He also placed a separate bet of $30,000 on the same outcome, but just in the first half, which landed him another $29,126.20 in winnings, with a total take-home fund of $59,126.20.

It saw him collect an overall of close to $60,000, a successful night at the office for the 47-year-old.

The Eagles were the underdog in the match so he secured good odds.

And he posted his winning bet slip on social media flaunting his winnings.

It was captioned: “I fly high like an eagle. Money May ALL day.”

Mayweather didn’t attend the 59th instalment of the Super Bowl, where a star-studded cast of sporting royalty attended.

Watching on the likes of Lionel Messi, Serena Williams, Luis Suarez joined a whole host of other celebrities including singer Taylor Swift and rapper Jay-Z.

Luckily for Mayweather, it ended in disaster for the Chiefs, with legendary quarter back Mahomes left with egg on his face.

He was sacked six times in the match, a career worst, as well as throwing two intercepted passes which led to two Eagles touchdowns in the first half.

They were down 24-0 by half time and it turned out to be an insurmountable lead.

Mahomes accepted responsibility for the defeat after the match, insisting he made too many errors on the night.

“Credit to the Eagles, they played better than us from start to finish,” he said.

“Obviously the turnovers hurt – I’ve just got to take all the blame for that. Those early turnovers swing the momentum of the game and they capitalised on them.

“It was kind of 14 points that I gave them and it’s hard to come back from that at the Super Bowl. I just didn’t play to my standard and I have to be better next time.”

For Mayweather it was another money-spinning night, to which he has been no stranger throughout his life in the spotlight.

The American legend generated an incredible $1.2 billion in total revenue from his stellar boxing career, where he retired with a perfect 50-0 undefeated record.

He retired in 2017 after a famous victory over UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

But he has continued to generate huge profit from a number of businesses, as well as by fighting in lucrative exhibition fights.
