Jalen Hurts is a Super Bowl champion.
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback silenced any doubts with an MVP performance against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night.
Hurts went 17 for 22, throwing for 221 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown in a 40-22 win over the defending champions.
He now joins an elite group of NFL stars to be named Super Bowl MVP, and another member of that exclusive club was in New Orleans to watch the Eagles star ball out.
Tom Brady, who won seven rings of his own, was on the call for Fox alongside Kevin Burkhardt.
He named Hurts his ‘LFG player of the game’ – an award he has been giving out as part of his $375million broadcast duties this season – and spoke to the quarterback as he soaked in the atmosphere after victory at Ceasars Superdome.
After the pair broke down the win, which Hurts described as ‘a team effort’, Brady offered him some wise advice about keeping hold of some game-worn memorabilia that will not doubt be worth a lot of money in the future.
“It’s gonna take a while to process it,” explained Brady, who is the only player in history to be named Super Bowl MVP five times.
“You’re gonna wake up tomorrow morning and you’re gonna feel so good.
“What I want you to feel good about is, don’t let that jersey out of your sight! I had a few stolen over the years!”
Hurts, laughing at the comment, responded: “I ain’t letting that happen.”
“Keep track of that. It’s gonna be memorable down the road,” Brady continued.
“I’m so happy for you. Congratulations to you and your team.
“You guys played so well all season long, and there couldn’t be a better Super Bowl champion than the Philadelphia Eagles and you led them to victory.”
Not only do Hurts and the Eagles depart New Orleans with the Vince Lombardi Trophy, but they also return home having destroyed Kansas City’s dreams of a historic three-peat.
The Chiefs were trying to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, but on the night, were absolutely dominated by their opponents.
Patrick Mahomes was sacked six times, while Philly’s defense registered 11 QB hits in the win.
Post game, multiple Eagles players said they used the talk of a three-peat to spur themselves on.

“That was motivation because it was kind of a slap to us,” veteran defensive end Brandon Graham said.
“It was like, they ain’t seen us yet.
“So, we heard that all week. And when the game came, execution was on point and together.”
Defensive tackle Milton Williams, meanwhile, added that talk about Chiefs using the trademarked ‘three-peat’ phrase without issue if they did win also motivated the Eagles.
“They were talking about getting the copyright and all that B.S. Throw that s*** in the trash,” he said.
