The Vince Lombardi Trophy has never been claimed by the Buffalo Bills.
Thankfully there is a man in the building who knows all about winning on the biggest stage.
Von Miller was named Super Bowl MVP when the Denver Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers.
He then won it again with the Los Angeles Rams before heading to Buffalo in 2022.
Miller is joint-first in the all-time list for career Super Bowl sacks with 4.5 and would love nothing more than to overtake Charles Haley en route to glory in New Orleans this year.
After brushing aside the Denver Broncos, the Baltimore Ravens are up next in a game that is being billed as the battle of the MVPs.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen is expected to miss out on the award despite his incredible season as Lamar Jackson has been sensational for the Ravens.
Miller knows his showdown with Jackson could go a long way to deciding the contest and has reached out to a good friend for help.
The 35-year-old joined the Let’s Go podcast that Maxx Crosby and Bill Belichick star on.
After admitting the Bills would have their hands full against a stacked Baltimore roster, talk turned to the man he described as ‘the other MVP quarterback.’
“Luckily I got guys like Maxx, I can just turn on his film and see him having success and sacks against those guys and relay that into my game,” he said on how he plans to stop two-time MVP Jackson.
“Me and Maxx have been bouncing pass-rush ideas off each other for a long time now. So I can turn on the film and see what he’s thinking, or if not I can just pick up the phone.”
Miller has a gameplan for dealing with Jackson
“Going against Lamar Jackson, you don’t want to rush too conservative but you don’t want to be too reckless at the same time,” he added. You just got to play your game.
“At this point coaches got to trust us to make plays. You can’t rush guys every play, it’s not effective, it’s Lamar Jackson, he’s gonna make plays. You just gotta rush and be conscious of where you’re rushing and how you’re rushing.”
Crosby recorded two sacks as his Las Vegas Raiders beat the Ravens 26-23 in Week 2.
And he had some extra advice for the man who mentored him as a young pro.
“If you just cage rush, or rush this guy scared, he’s gonna do whatever he wants, he’s gonna hold the ball and go crazy,” he said. “You can’t rush scared against him.
“That’s the only way you’re going to have a chance. You have to be calculated, you have to be smart, but at the same time you can’t be scared.
“Lamar’s incredible, you can respect him but you can’t fear him. You gotta go get him.”
Miller says it all boils down to a very simple formula.
“We just gotta make a few more plays than him. It’s the way to beat every team,” he added.
Stopping Jackson is one thing, but the Ravens are not a one-trick pony.
“You can’t forget Derrick Henry,” noted Miller. Wise words.
