Myprotein has created the perfect Easter treat if you don’t want to sacrifice your fitness goals.

The limited edition chocolate easter egg layered protein bar promises all the indulgence of a chocolate egg but with 20g of protein per bar and an impressive 7.4g of gut-friendly fibre.

Myprotein chocolate easter egg bars have several layers of flavour

Of course, I had to give this a try to see if the bars taste as good as they sound.

I was expecting something overly sweet or a bit artificial, but I was honestly surprised.

While some sports nutrition brands claim their protein bars have layers of flavour, the Myprotein chocolate easter egg bar‘s layers are visible to the naked eye.

A double layer of protein is topped with rich caramel and dotted with soya nuggets, enrobed in a milk chocolate flavour coating.

On top, there’s a chocolate flavour coating with a chopped mini-egg crumb to tantalise the tastebuds even further.

The chocolate flavour is rich and smooth, and the caramel layer gives it that proper Easter egg vibe.

I thought the chocolate-coated soya nuggets gave it a satisfying extra crunch, perfectly offsetting the rich caramel.

Myprotein easter egg protein bars are available until 20 April

Some protein bars have that dry, chalky aftertaste. But not this one.

The TalkSPORT tester in the Myprotein Impact whey protein powder review was impressed that the Belgian chocolate flavour wasn’t too artificial-tasting, and the same is true for this flavoursome protein bar.

Having taste-tested a lot of different brands in search of the best protein powders myself, I love the convenience of being able to get a protein fix from a bar, rather than have to add milk and carry around a bulky shaker bottle.

While most protein bars cost around £2 each, these work out to £1.66 thanks to a £6 price drop on the Myprotein website.

Treat yourself to one a day for each day of the working week and that £19.99 investment will see you through two and a half weeks of snacking – a lot longer than a regular Easter Egg would last.

Whether you’re smashing the gym, training for a race, or just trying to stay healthy while indulging a bit this Easter, these chocolate easter egg layered protein bars are definitely worth a try.
