The buzzer sounded at the end of the second quarter between the visiting Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Lakers, as fans began to get out of their seats to rush to the restroom.
That is until they saw what was transpiring on the court and quickly sat back down. This writer included.

Dillon Brooks started jawing with noted good friend of LeBron James, Shannon Sharpe, who was sitting courtside. Both teams had started to head back towards their respective tunnels for halftime.
Then all hell broke loose.
Ja Morant and Steven Adams quickly made their way in Sharpe’s direction, in an effort to diffuse the situation.
However, what seemed like the entire Grizzlies bench emptied and appeared to make their way towards Sharpe, Morant’s father, Tee, included.
The temperature of the arena was rising. Fast.
I couldn’t believe my eyes.
I thought to myself, ‘Are we about to witness a Malice at the Palace 2.0?’
It was utter pandemonium inside Crytpo.com Arena.
Now would have been the perfect time to use the restroom, considering everyone’s eyes were locked onto the shouting match taking place between one of American sports biggest names and the elder Morant.
But it was impossible to look away.

Security came flooding in to stand between all parties involved, pushing everyone back.
Fortunately the situation was defused before things really got out of hand.
Albeit a small part of me would have been curious to see how a Steven Adams-Shannon Sharpe brawl would have gone down.
The unstoppable force meets the immovable object.
I digress.
Sharpe and the Grizzlies – and elder Morant – were separated and walked back in different tunnels for the remainder of the intermission.
The whole arena was left stunned and in a state of confusion as to what had just happened.
Was Sharpe going to come back out and sit courtside for the remainder of the game? Had he been thrown out? What about Tee Morant?

The second half started and everyone was back in their seats, Sharpe included – as if nothing had happened.
In the end, cooler heads prevailed, as Sharpe and Morant senior made up and hugged it out.
However, it was Sharpe and the Lakers who were able to get the last laugh as the Grizzlies fumbled the game away in the closing minutes, with LA coming away with an improbable 122-121 victory.
A game, now almost two years removed, still unlike any other in recent memory, and probably as close as to a Malice at the Palace situation as we will ever get.
Moral of the story, don’t go use the restroom at halftime, you never know what you might miss.
