The Kansas City Chiefs keep on rolling.
Chasing a historic three-peat, the back-to-back Super Bowl winners are undefeated through nine weeks of the season.
But they had to grind it out in prime time against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.
On the final drive of the game, Baker Mayfield threw a touchdown pass that put Tampa Bay within a 2-point conversion of ending Kansas City’s perfect start to the season.
But coach Todd Bowles decided to opt against risking it, instead sending out Chase McLaughlin to kick the extra point and send the match to overtime.
Then, the inevitable happened.
The Chiefs won the coin toss and Patrick Mahomes capped a big day – 291 yards passing and three touchdowns – by rolling down field.
Kareem Hunt finished off the OT drive by fighting his way into the end zone from two yards out to give Kansas City a 30-24 victory.
And just like that, the Chiefs are 8-0, marching towards their third-straight Super Bowl.
Monday night’s win against the Buccaneers further solidifies their spot atop the AFC standings and begs the question – can anyone derail their season?
That topic was discussed on Good Morning Football, with Peter Schrager naming the team he thinks poses the biggest threat to the Chiefs.
“My answer comes with a bit of an asterisk,” he said.
“If I can get the Baltimore Ravens team that played the Buffalo Bills in Week 4, and if I can get the Ravens team that played the Denver Broncos in Week 9, then I will take the Baltimore Ravens team over any team in the AFC, including the Chiefs.
“The Ravens, when they are at their best and feeling themselves, is the best team in football. The problem is, you get these weeks when they lay an egg.”
Schrager went on to say that the only way Baltimore can beat Kansas City – if they meet in the AFC Championship game this year – is if they show up and play to their full potential.
“It’s perhaps the most frustrating team in league when they’re not playing well, and perhaps the most electric team when they’re doing things right,” he added of the Ravens.
“They can’t beat the Chiefs if they don’t play the same way they played against the Bills and the Broncos.”
Back in Week 4, Baltimore cruised to victory over Buffalo 35-10, and beat Denver 41-10 last Sunday.
If they want to play in the Super Bowl this year, they may have to get the better of the Chiefs en-route – and that would mean putting right a performance from Week 1 that saw them fall to Mahomes and co.
