Brock Lesnar has been gone from WWE for over a year, and icon The Undertaker is eager to see him return and take on one top star.
The Beast – who memorably put paid to Taker’s legendary WrestleMania undefeated streak – hasn’t featured in a WWE match since being downed by Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam in 2023.
Brock Lesnar remains part of the discussion among wrestling fans and pundits despite his lengthy absenceWWE
It had been heavily rumoured he’d been slated to return at the 2024 Royal Rumble ten months ago, but this potential comeback was said to have been shelved after Lesnar’s name was linked to Vince McMahon’s in the sex trafficking allegations that ultimately resulted in McMahon’s WWE exit.
A lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant that McMahon had trafficked her to a company executive and wrestler – who was later named as Lesnar by a Wall Street Journal report.
While McMahon remains under investigation, many have speculated as to Lesnar’s status as an active wrestler, WWE’s Head of Creative Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque admitting in July that the company would be ‘open to the conversation’ on working with the powerhouse.
“He’s up in Canada, watching his kids play hockey and enjoying life,” Levesque commented.
“If and when he decides that he would like to do something, we’d be open to the conversation, but we’ll see.”
One man very keen to see Lesnar tangling between the ropes in WWE again is Undertaker, who explained on his Six Feet Under podcast how much he’d relish seeing a face-off between Lensar and the company’s current World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther.
Physically imposing and dominant in his own right, Gunther’s reign with the gold is building nicely and would undoubtedly be boosted by a programme with Lesnar, who has done more in recent years to elevate the profile of others.
It’s a clash that clearly appeals to the Phenom, who said: “It would propel Gunther to even another level to work a programme with Brock.
“The heights that I think Brock could bring him to would make him untouchable. He has his own style, his own pace and everything else, but to work with somebody, a beast, like Brock would push him to levels that I’m not sure anybody on the roster [does.]
On the idea of the two clashing in a high-profile WrestleMania encounter, the 59-year-old said: “That would be interesting. I would like to see that. That’s very compelling to me. But what do I know?
Gunther established his world title reign by seeing off Randy Orton in his maiden televised defenceWWE
Gunther and Lesnar stood toe to toe at Royal Rumble in 2023 but have yet to meet in a matchWWE
“That would be fun to watch, [to] see how Gunther handled that. I think he’d handle it well, and I would like to watch that myself.”
Taker went as far as to say he would have loved to have worked with the former long-reigning Intercontinental champ himself, saying: “I’d love to see him wrestle The Undertaker, that’s who I’d love to see him wrestle.
“I told him that… I said: ‘I would’ve drawn a lot of money with you.’
Gunther won the world title back in August by defeating Damian Priest at SummerSlam.
He’s since successfully defended against Randy Orton at WWE‘s Bash in Berlin, and across non-televised events since, including Sunday night’s win over Chad Gable in Cardiff to begin the company’s latest UK tour.
