Ibrahima Konate left the pitch in agony at half time of Liverpool’s clash with Brighton in potentially another huge injury blow for the Reds.
After the half-time whistle was blown at Anfield, Konate looked in huge discomfort as members of Liverpool‘s medical staff gave him some treatment.
As the French defender trudged off he was seen using the bottom of his shirt as a sling for his left arm.
The injury was caused by him slipping over and landing awkwardly when attacking a corner Liverpool had.
Joe Gomez was brought on as Konate‘s replacement at the start of the second half.
This is the last thing Reds head coach Arne Slot will want as Liverpool are already without Alisson, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa until after the November international break.
Liverpool found themselves 1-0 down at half time with Fedri Kadioglu giving the away side a surprise lead on 14 minutes.
However, quickfire goals by Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah saw Liverpool go from 1-0 down to 2-1 up in the space of four second-half minutes.
It’s a huge opportunity for Liverpool to gain an advantage in the title race with rivals Arsenal losing at Newcastle earlier on Saturday.
Liverpool have made a positive start to the season, going into the weekend second in the Premier League table, a point behind leaders Manchester City.
They’re also through to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup and have won their opening three Champions League games this term.
Konate has been one of the team’s standout performers, starting every Premier League game for Liverpool this season, however, it seems likely he’ll be facing a period of absence as a result of this injury.
The nature of his injury nor how long he’ll be out for is yet to be confirmed, however.
