Lucy Bronze has revealed a football shirt takes pride of place over the medals and trophies won during her career.

The England full-back is looking to win yet another title this weekend in the Women’s League Cup final.

Chelsea face Manchester City at Pride Park on Saturday, with Bronze set to line up for the Blues against her former club.

A win would see the 33-year-old win the tournament for the third time after a pair of wins across her two spells at City.

Bronze is also a five-time Champions League winner but has admitted it is an England shirt which tops all her silverware.

Speaking ahead of the final, she was asked which of her medals she never gets tired of looking at.

The defender told talkSPORT: “Weirdly enough, I think the one I don’t… Not a trophy, a shirt, is just my first England shirt.

“And when I talk about my first one, not my senior one, my first ever one when I was 15, is a shirt that I’ve got framed. I think it’s one of the only shirts I’ve got framed.

“And it has a little drop of Ribena on it still. But I don’t know, for some reason, that’s the shirt that I just love the most.”

Bronze first represented England at Under-17 level as a 15-year-old whilst playing for Blyth Town.

She continued to feature at youth level before becoming a staple of the Lionesses’ squads over the last 12 years.

The Euros winner continued: “To be honest, my parents couldn’t afford to buy me football shirts and stuff growing up.

“So, I did have a couple, but not many. And I don’t think I ever really got the legit home England shirt. So, this is my first ever official England shirt.

“I had number two on it and I was just like, wow, this is amazing. I’ve got a real England shirt. So, yes, I think it was a bit of everything.

“I think I would have kept it even if I never went and had a career in England. It would have just been like, oh, that’s my England shirt.”

Since her debut in 2013, Bronze has gone on to win 129 caps for the Lionesses, scoring 16 goals across those matches.

The former Lyon and Barcelona star has also won 28 major trophies including her five Champions League triumphs.

Those European titles include three-in-a-row with the French side between 2018 and 2020.

Bronze will now be eyeing a third Women’s League Cup against City on Saturday.

The two sides are set to meet four times in a row over the next two weeks.

Tomorrow’s final will be followed by the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday night.

The league leaders then travel to Manchester in the Women’s Super League next weekend ahead of the second leg on March 27.
