Manchester City star Ederson isn’t just a sweeper-keeper – he’s Pep Guardiola’s hidden pass-master.

The Brazilian shot-stopper racked up his fourth Premier League assist for the Citizens in their 2-1 victory over Brentford at the Etihad.

Ederson delivered a perfect assist for Erling Haaland in their win against Brentford

Ederson picked out Erling Haaland in the 32nd minute with an over the top through ball from the edge of his box.

Haaland, who had equalised 13 minutes prior, then made light work after barging Bees centre-back Ethan Pinnock out of the way, before dinking over the onrushing Mark Flekken.

It was the Norwegian’s ninth top-flight goal in his opening four matches – a Premier League record.

But all the props has to go to Ederson for his vision and ability to pull off the pass, which has become a trademark of his since joining from Benfica in 2017.

It was his fourth assist in the Premier League – and fifth in all competitions – having previously supplied in matches against Huddersfield, Schalke, Tottenham and Brighton.

Ederson’s assist is also the first made by a goalkeeper this season.

And incredibly, he now boasts more league assists than Manchester United forward Antony, who is in his third season at Old Trafford.

The winger arrived with big expectations from Ajax having joined in a deal rising to a whopping £85million.

But he has been limited to just three Premier League assists from 55 outings.

Football fans are loving the incredible stat, as one X user said: “Bro can play midfield better than most of Brazilian players now days.”

Another commented: “What a ridiculously brilliant stat!”

A third added: “One of the wildest stats I have seen today.”

This fan then messaged: “Tbf he would probably have more goals as well if he were aloud [sic] to play out.”

Meanwhile another simply stated: “This is delightful.”

Antony has been limited to just one appearance this season, with Amad Diallo preferred on the right wing by boss Erik ten Hag.
