Tony Romo is best known for throwing dimes on the football field.
But the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback’s sporting talents aren’t limited to the NFL.
The 44-year-old Romo is one of the better amateur golfers and regularly takes to the course.
This week will see celebs and pros play together at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Romo played in the event at the iconic California course six years ago and produced a moment anybody in the paid ranks would be proud of.
On the par-four 15th hole, the CBS commentator’s drive strayed onto the carpet outside a hospitality tent.
“Just come over to say hi,” he joked with the punters as he strolled up and took a look at the green below.
Even playing partner Jim Furyk, who has 17 PGA Tour wins, would have struggled to play a better recovery shot.
After the tables and chairs were cleared out of the way, Romo hit a sensational chip which rolled to within two feet of the cup for a tap-in birdie to leave the crowd and fellow competitors stunned.
Viewers piled into the comments to praise the Cowboys legend.
“You can’t help but love this guy! You go, Tony,” said one.
“Trying to reach the green from here Shooter?…That’s not possible sir….I beg to differ, Tony Romo accomplished that feat an hour ago,” added a second in reference to legendary golf movie ‘Happy Gilmore.’
“This video should have tens of millions of views. That’s one of the best golf shots I’ve ever seen,” a third wrote.
“I play golf and thats an insane shot. Even a pro would be lucky to stick it that close,” said a fourth.
Romo’s appearance came to a sudden end as he withdrew before the weekend due to a ‘commitment at home.’
The former QB and Furyk were in a tie for 53rd at nine-under-par when he withdrew.
Romo has a 1.6 handicap but the battering his body took during his career means he has to manage injuries.
“The way his body is, playing that many years in the NFL, he battles it every day,” regular playing partner Scottie Scheffler told the Subpar podcast.

“He brings this little Hypervolt and his lacrosse ball and his bands out on the golf course with him every day and he’s basically warming up the entire round, so I really think it’s just battling his body.
“Because he’s a really, really good golfer. If his body would cooperate for him I think he’d be a lot better.
“But it’s tough for him getting beat up for that many years playing in the NFL.
“I mean, he plays golf every day basically when he’s home. He’s playing golf all the time — he loves it.”
Scheffler added that Romo loves a bet while out on the course.
“Tony always has the most risk in the game. So when he plays good he wins and when he plays bad he loses big because he’s got side games with everybody, and he never declines a hammer in wolf. He’s a crazy man,” he explained.
“So when he loses, he loses big because if we are playing good we are going to make a bunch of birdies and double the bet and do all that stuff, and there’s been a couple of times where he’s played and he wrote checks to guys.
“And I never go to the bank, so I just keep it in my little pouch and whenever I have to pay him back, let’s say he owes me $1,000, so he writes me a check for $1,000. Then the next week I lose $600, I give him the check and go, ‘Alright, you owe me $400.’
“It is so much fun because he gets so mad. He’s like, ‘This isn’t real money! This isn’t fair!’
“I’m like, ‘Tony, it has your name on the check. This is what you gave me. I’m giving it back to you now.’”
