Inter vs Genoa predictions

Inter Milan are second in the Serie A table with 54 points from 25 matches.

Things have gone a bit wrong in recent weeks with the Black and Blues picking up just four points from their last four outings.

The latest indiscretion came last Sunday when the defending champions somehow contrived to lose 1-0 to Juventus in the Derby d’Italia.

With Napoli again dropping points, Inter not beating Juve meant Simone Inzaghi’s team failed to take the top spot in Serie A.

The Nerazzurri dominated the early exchanges, but Denzil Dumfries and Lautaro Martinez were guilty of blowing numerous chances to give the visitors the lead.

In the end, the missed chances came back to haunt Inter. Francisco Conceicao fired past Yann Sommer on 74 minutes to give Juve a 1-0 win and leave Inzaghi and Inter incredibly frustrated.

Moving on, and with Napoli not playing until Sunday this weekend, a win for Inter will see them go top of Serie A for a few hours at the very least.

And with the league leaders not having won any of their previous three matches, the Nerazzurri know how important beating Genoa is to heap as much pressure as possible onto Antonio Conte’s misfiring side ahead of their Sunday morning kick-off.

After a poor start to the season, Genoa parted company with Alberto Gilardino on November 19th.

The Italian was replaced by former Inter midfielder Patrick Vieira, who has steered the team away from the relegation zone and into midtable safety.

Genoa now sit 11th in Serie A with 30 points from 25 matches. The Rossoblu are now 10 points clear of the drop zone, only losing three times in Vieira’s 13 league matches in charge.

Genoa’s most recent match was a 2-0 win over relegation-threatened Venezia on Monday. Late goals from Andrea Pinamonti and Maxwel Cornet secured the three points ahead of their tricky visit to the San Siro.

Inter vs Genoa betting tips

After a poor night in Turin on Sunday, this looks like the ideal match for Inter to get their season back on track with a win. Find our Inter vs Genoa betting tips below:

Inter to win and under 4.5 goals

Inter have to win this match. They simply can’t afford to drop any more points.

Including this fixture, there are only 13 matches left in Serie A this season. So, any team serious about winning the Scudetto needs to get their act together now.

The Nerazzurri have won eight of their 12 home matches. They need to improve on that. Genoa has four wins on the road, they shouldn’t prevent Inter from claiming all three points.

Patrick Vieira will set the visitors up to make life difficult for Inter. But the hosts should be able to find a way to win a low-scoring match.

A win for Inter is just 2/7. Backing them to win with less than five goals in the match improves the odds to 28/50.

⚽ Back Inter to win and under 4.5 goals at 28/50 with SBK ⚽

Both teams to score

Genoa don’t score many, they have just 24 goals in 25 Serie A matches.

But they do score consistently, they have scored in eight of their last nine matches.

Inter’s defence hasn’t been its usual self this season.

The Nerazzurri only conceded 22 goals on their way to the Scudetto last season. This term, they have already conceded 24 times in 25 matches.

Inter has also conceded in their last three in Serie A and in four of their last five.

In a further blow to Inter, they have been hit with the news that Yann Summer has broken a thumb.

The ever-reliable shot-stopper looks set to be out for a few matches.

Given all the above, a bet on both teams to score at odds above even money is well worth a wager.

⚽ Back both teams to score again at 11/10 with bet365 ⚽

Lautaro Martinez to score or assist

Lautaro Martinez had a night to forget at the Allianz Stadium against Juve last Sunday.

The Inter skipper had four shots on goal (he can’t complain he didn’t get the chances), but was guilty of some poor finishing.

Martinez has now failed to score or assist in Inter’s last four matches, a goalless run that coincides with his team’s poor form.

He did fire a hat-trick against Monaco in the Champions League in the match before his barren run, and the Argentine also scored and assisted in his team’s 4-0 win over Leece on Matchday 22.

Martinez has nine goals and five assists in his 23 Serie A matches this season. He also has five goals and one assist in his eight Champions League outings.

He’s too good to go much longer without a goal involvement in Serie A, and a match against a mid-table team like Genoa looks ideal to get him back involved in the goals again.

Martinez is 51/50 to score anytime and 7/10 to score or assist. We are playing safe and going with the latter, giving us two possible chances of winning.

⚽ Back Lautaro Martinez to score or assist at 7/10 with Casumo ⚽
