Ipswich v Nottingham Forest prediction
Nottingham Forest’s Champions League qualification hopes were given a boost as a late strike from winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was enough to see them defeat reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City.
A win would put Nottingham Forest just one point behind Arsenal before their clash against Chelsea on Sunday, and potentially eight above Manchester City in fifth.
As for the Tractor boys, a win could put them within three points of Wolves in 17th. Ipswich were handed another setback last weekend when a late goal from Ismaila Sarr saw them lose to Crystal Palace. The result means that Ipswich are now without a win in their last nine Premier League games, losing seven.
Ipswich’s head into Saturday’s game having only won at Portman Road once in the league all season. Their visitors, Nottingham Forest, have lost their last three away fixtures having won four on the trot prior.
The two sides have met twice already this season with Forest coming out on top on both occasions, winning 1-0 in the reverse fixture and winning on penalties to knock Ipswich out of the FA Cup. That loss has left Ipswich without a win against Forest in their last five attempts, a run I believe will continue, with a 3-1 away win the most likely outcome.
Ipswich v Nottingham Forest betting tips
Nottingham Forest forward Chris Wood has scored 18 league goals in 28 games this season, a tally only bettered by Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak. Before drawing a blank in his previous three games, against three teams fighting for top four, the New Zealand international had scored eight in seven. With five goal contributions in 11 games against Ipswich you can be sure Chris Wood will be feeling confident up against an Ipswich side that have conceded 21 goals in their last seven league fixtures.
Only Liverpool and Arsenal have conceded less goals than Nottingham Forest this season with goalkeeper Matz Sels leading the way for clean sheets. Only Southampton have scored less goals than Ipswich leaving a Nottingham Forest clean sheet very much on the cards.
