Rickie Fowler’s hopes of playing in The Masters are hanging by a thread with the tournament starting next week.

The American finished as runner-up in 2018, but to make it to Augusta this time, he is going to need to pull off a minor miracle.

The 36-year-old was once a regular title-winner and competitor at the majors, but that hasn’t happened for a while.

Still, missing out on the field for The Masters would be a blow for Fowler, and he’ll be determined to make sure it doesn’t happen.

Is Rickie Fowler playing The Masters?

As it stands, Fowler won’t be at The Masters.

He is now ranked outside of the top 100 and needs to win at the Valero Texas Open this weekend to seal a spot at Augusta.

Fowler faces an uphill task as he hasn’t had a top ten this season while his last PGA Tour win came at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in July 2023.

The field for the Texas Open will be weaker than some other PGA Tour events but Fowler will have to rediscover his best to claim victory.

But if he does pull off his 11th career win this Sunday, the American would get the chance to compete for the famous green jacket again.

In 2018, Fowler lost out on claiming the trophy by one shot to Patrick Reed.

He has missed The Masters three times since turning professional but also has three top tens.

During his stunning 2014 season, he came T5 at Augusta and went on to finish no worse than third in the other three majors that summer.

However, the 2015 Players Champion has never been able to get over the line in golf’s biggest events.
