Ja Morant wants all the smoke.
And the buzzer-beating game winners that keep the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference playoffs.

One of the most controversial players in the NBA sank a 9-foot fadeaway jump shot in the lane as time expired to give Memphis a 110-108 road win over the Miami Heat on Thursday.
Morant scored a team-high 30 points and led the Grizz to another pivotal victory as they attempt to avoid the play-in tournament.
As Morant’s shot bounced above the rim, Memphis players watched and waited, then unleashed a joyous celebration.
“Morant goes on (Kel’el) Ware, step back and … it goes!” an announcer screamed.
“Ja Morant wins it for Memphis!”
Morant, who’s been in the middle of a ‘gun gesture’ controversy, untucked his jersey and reveled in his game-winner.
“I feel like I’ve been the villain for the last two years now,” Morant said. “Not even just to this crowd.”
“JA is the MVP!” one fan tweeted
“Ja needs to stay on this energy — pure box office!” a second fan wrote.
“Great way to respond a chattery couple of days,” a third fan posted.

Morant appeared to make a gun gesture toward the Golden State Warriors‘ bench during the Grizzlies defeat on Tuesday.
Social media and talk shows buzzed while debating what exactly Morant did.
Warriors guard Stephen Curry was left bewildered by Morant’s gesture, which also received attention from teammate Draymond Green.
“Given Ja’s history, you would think he’d be smarter than that,” former NFL star Shannon Sharpe said on the NightCap.
“Ja, just gotta be smarter. I get it, he’s young, but they’ll take your money.
“You hear talk at one point, they thought he could be the face of the league. Now they talking about can they win with Ja, could he be a second option?”

The NBA is investigating Morant’s behavior and will also probe Golden State’s Buddy Hield’s potential involvement, according to ESPN.
Morant appeared unfazed by the controversy on Thursday, leading Memphis to victory and appearing to perform another ‘gun’ celebration.
After hitting a three-pointer against the Heat, Morant motioned his arms, and appeared to act like he was holding and aiming a gun.
Morant was suspended twice by the NBA in 2023, once for eight games and the other for 25, for displaying guns on social media.
The No. 2 overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft is a two-time All-Star and won the 2019-20 Rookie of the Year.
Morant, 25, is averaging 22.7 points and 7.4 assists for the Grizzlies, who are 45-32 and a half game behind Golden State for fifth place in the West.
While the NBA looks into Morant again and the media debates his actions, he clearly has supporters hoping he can get the most out of his hardwood talent.
But another suspension would take Morant out of the lineup and could severely dent Memphis’ playoff hopes.
“Wow, incredible shot Ja,” a fan tweeted.
“I love this guy, take care of this guy,” a second fan posted. “He will be the biggest name in the NBA in the coming years.”
