Jake Paul is still dreaming of a showdown with Canelo Alvarez.
The Problem Child has made some extremely bold calls since he entered the world of boxing, including calling out Canelo, one of the best fighters on the planet.
Not interested in wasting time, Paul doubled down and told UFC star O’Malley on his podcast that he believes he is ready to dethrone the super-middleweight king.
“Me versus Canelo at 200lbs for the cruiserweight championship. That makes so much sense.
“Canelo is on his way out or he’s going to want a payday, and I want to show the world all the s*** I’ve been talking about beating Canelo is actually true.”
He then revealed his plan after – in his mind – he beats Mike Tyson in their Texas showdown.
And Canelo’s ears could be burning even amongst all the noise.
“I’ll have the biggest upset in the sport of boxing, and we will fight to really see who the face is. I beat his gate record in Texas, I’m beating ticket sales, I have more followers than him.
“I’m gonna be the new money man. This fight should be for a belt it makes the most sense at cruiserweight.”
Paul’s influence within the sport has grown massively in recent years, with a large social following behind him the internet sensation has had major success since he transitioned to boxing.
He started his boxing journey with victories over fellow YouTube star Ali Eson Gib, and former NBA star, Nate Robinson.
He then began to acquire his highlight reel moments as he dispatched two former MMA champions in Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley devastatingly.
Paul then secured his biggest victory to date after defeating one of the greatest UFC middleweights of all time, Anderson Silva.
His first loss came at the hands of Tommy Fury in December 2023 via a split-decision.
Paul then bounced-back with a string of victories over Andre August, Ryan Bourland and Bare-Knuckle fighter, Mike Perry.
Next up for the 27-year-old is Tyson, the former heavyweight champion. The pair square off at the A&T Stadium on 15 November in front of a huge Netflix audience.
Despite being past his prime, Paul has yet to face an opponent of Tyson’s calibre and will need to be on his a-game should he wish to defeat a man who dominated boxing for so long.
The co-featured bout of the evening will see the highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. The pair originally met in 2022 providing a fight of the year contest for fight fans.
Ireland’s Taylor got the nod on the judges’ scorecard claiming a split-decision victory and retaining her lightweight titles.
Since their first contest, Taylor has gone on to secure double-champion status after she dethroned Chantelle Cameron in their rematch last November.
Taylor’s lightweight titles will be up for grabs once more despite the pair meeting at a 138-pound catchweight on Friday.
