Jake Paul insists he wasn’t a fan of Mike Tyson’s approach to their boxing showdown.

Paul and Tyson met in a historic boxing event which was watched by millions around the world, but failed to live up the spectacle.

58-year-old heavyweight veteran Tyson looked a shadow of his former self, and was comprehensively outboxed by the influencer-turned-boxer who picked up a points win.

Equally, Paul failed to perform to the best of his ability and was unable to chase the stoppage that he had promised before the first bell.

He has since reflected on the night, insisting that he believes Tyson was simply in survival mode which limited his chances of putting on a show.

He said on Impaulsive: “I wish he would have put up a better fight so I could have risen more and done more.

“He was just surviving and that was the only thing I didn’t really like.”

His brother Logan replied: “It’s so annoying when they don’t bring the fight to you.

“But Tyson did land a couple of punches-how did they feel?”

He then concluded: “Nothing. Didn’t feel a thing, to be honest.

“Even the ones he landed, I saw them coming. They didn’t hurt.

Tyson was barely effective in the fight with his work, landing just 18 of his 97 total punches thrown in the eight round distance.

‘Iron Mike’ was feared before the first bell, given he had shown his ferocious power was still there in short clips of training footage.

But he couldn’t sustain it for any lengthy period in the fight, a sad sight for a heavyweight who carried a frightening 88 per cent KO ratio in his professional career.

It is now unlikely Tyson will fight again given his shortcomings as he approaches the age of 60.

Many suggested after the fight that Tyson’s inability to throw a succession of punches and chase a stoppage displayed that it had a ‘rigged’ outcome.

Paul has faced similar allegations in the past, despite the fact the contests have been fully sanctioned professional fights.

And his promotional outfit Most Valuable Promotions have issued a statement, vehemently denying the claims.

“MVP would like to set the record straight regarding the contractual agreements and the nature of the fight,” it read.

“Rigging a professional boxing match is a federal crime in the United States of America.

“Paul vs Tyson was a professional match sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR).

“Both fighters in good faith performed to the best of their abilities with the goal of winning the fight.

“There were absolutely no restrictions – contractual or otherwise – around either fighter.

“Each boxer was able to use his full arsenal to win the fight. Any agreement to the contrary would violate TDLR boxing rules.”

It was an unfortunate stain on the record for Tyson, which signals a sad close to his legendary time in the squared circle.
