Then Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs rallying for a 38-35 victory that gave Kansas City a world championship.

“We use this pain, we use this failure to motivate us so we can make it a strength,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said.

Hurts literally took Sirianni’s words to heart.

A photograph of Hurts taken after Super Bowl LVII showed that the Philly quarterback turned a humbling image of himself into his phone’s lock screen image.

As confetti fell from the stadium roof and the Chiefs celebrated winning the Super Bowl, Hurts was captured walking down the sideline by himself and blankly staring ahead.

An Eagles player on a nearby bench appeared to be screaming in frustration as Hurts walked by.

Months after Kansas City outscored Philadelphia 24-11 in the second half to claim the trophy, Hurts had turned his losing image into personal motivation.

The painful photo of him was on his personal phone.

“That’s some Kobe s***,” one fan tweeted.

“He’s so locked in,” a second fan posted.

“Love this dude,” a third fan wrote.

“Tell me this man doesn’t take this s*** seriously,” a fourth fan said. “Hurts is different y’all and he hasn’t even hit his stride yet. He is going to be a problem for every team in this league for a loooong time. Fly Eagles Fly!!!

Hurts was heading toward the MVP of Super Bowl LVII.

He completed 27-of-38 passes for 304 yards, one touchdown and a 103.4 rating, while rushing 15 times for 70 yards and three TDs.

But on a night in Glendale, Arizona that saw the Philly QB record four total touchdowns, Mahomes was magical in the final minutes.

Harrison Butker’s 27-yard field goal with 8 seconds left broke a 35-35 tie, allowing the Chiefs to soar and turning the Eagles into losers.

“I thought guys just embraced the moment,” Mahomes said. “In that first half, we were playing and doing some good stuff, but I felt like the guys were getting consumed by everything around us.”

Kansas City honored head coach Andy Reid after lifting the trophy.

“We wanted to get this so bad for him,” Travis Kelce said.

“His legacy in Philly lives on forever. There’s a lot of pride in knowing that he’s had success in two different organizations, but this was the better one.”

Two years later, Hurts is trying to top off his legacy with the Eagles.
