Patrick Mahomes dug deep into his bag of tricks to clinch a record fourth consecutive postseason victory over Josh Allen.
The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills 32-29 to claim the AFC title and set up a Super Bowl clash with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Superstar quarterback Mahomes threw for 245 yards and a touchdown with no picks, as well as running in two scores himself.
His second rushing TD put the Chiefs ahead in the fourth quarter and the celebration had everybody talking.
Mahomes attempted to spike the ball but instead sent it flying toward a photographer at the side of the end zone.
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce sat down with brother Jason – a retired Eagles great who still lives in Philly – to discuss the play.
“He can throw the ball anywhere on the field, but he can’t throw it directly into the ground,” Jason said on their New Heights podcast.
“Sometimes when you get into the end zone you’re just fired up, you don’t care what happens to the football,” insisted Travis.
The future Hall of Fame tight end revealed that the play had only been added the week of the game.
It clearly caught the Bills defense by surprise as Travis led the way for Mahomes with a great block.
“When we added the play this week I was like, ‘That’s gonna f****** hit,’” he explained. “We had never ran that play before. We never gave Pat the full ability to just keep it on the run.”
Travis is obviously rooting for his Chiefs to make history with a third consecutive Super Bowl triumph in February.
But many of his loved ones will have split loyalties at best.
Jason, who spent his entire 13-year NFL career in Philadelphia and lost to Travis in Super Bowl LVII, wore an Eagles jacket and visor on the latest podcast episode.
“Here’s the biggest thing. Obviously, you’re my brother. I’ll always root for my brother. That’s the reality of it,” he said. “Even though I’m decked out in Eagles gear, I’m always rooting for Travis.
“But, there’s a lot of people in the Philadelphia organization — whether it’s players, coaches, people in the building — that feel like extended family to me, especially my former offensive linemen.
“Like (right tackle) Lane Johnson feels like a brother in a lot of ways. I’m rooting for those guys too. I’m rooting for Philadelphia and I’m rooting for Travis Kelce. That’s the reality of it.
“No matter what on game day, I’m going to be happy for one of those sides and I’m going to be sad for the other side.”

Jason’s wife Kylie Kelce is a Philadelphia native and die-hard Eagles fan.
Even Travis’ pop megastar girlfriend Taylor Swift may have a bit of green running through her veins.
Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, she confirmed at a concert in 2023 that she supported the Eagles – before her and Travis were a power couple.
But Chiefs megafan and WNBA icon Caitlin Clark insists Taylor is now a passionate Kansas City supporter.
Clark watched the Chiefs’ win over the Bills with the billionaire songstress.
“I’m a huge Chiefs fan and Taylor is a huge Chiefs fan,” the 23-year-old said.
“Taylor is very sweet and very kind and it’s a good reminder that people in our position are very normal. We enjoy watching sports and hanging out with our friends. It puts a great perspective of life.
“It’s just cute to see how excited she is for the Chiefs. And getting to share that like, ‘Oh my god, I love this.’ Like, she loves the Chiefs as much as me.”
The Chiefs have been rolling in recent weeks but Travis is expecting the Eagles to be the ‘best team we play all year.’
It’s sure to be a classic.
