Joe Joyce’s viral interview after Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois is no cause for concern.

That is according to ‘The Juggernaut’, who was ringside at Wembley Stadium, where he watched Daniel Dubois stun the boxing world by dropping Joshua four times en route to a five-round demolition.

After the fight, Joyce gave an interview with TNT Sports, during which he appeared to completely stop halfway through his answer.

Many suggested he completely ‘froze’ and became concerned for his wellbeing, with Joyce having had an arduous boxing career at the pinnacle of the division.

But during an appearance on talkSPORT Drive, he clarified exactly what happened.

He said: “As many people may have seen, I was so shocked and lost for words after the fight.

“Yeah, I was very lost for words. The whole event I was just trying to process what I had just witnessed.

“Yeah I didn’t have to do them interviews, but after I’d done one I did more and more.

“But on that particular one I just really didn’t know what to say at all.

“I was just processing it all, as you say I was loading or whatever.”

Joyce was like many who couldn’t quite believe what they witnessed, with Joshua succumbing to a devastating fate at the hands of Dubois.

It reflected in his interview where he paused after being asked what was next for him, and he ran out of words.

Joyce joined talkSPORT and clarified it was simply shock

The heavyweight was recently beaten in an upset of his own against Derel Chisora, but is back in training and ready to return.

Having fought and beaten Dubois himself with a brutal stoppage in 2020, it has been an incredible journey for his ex-rival.

And he has claimed that he did believe that an upset was on, having felt the power of his fellow Briton’s shots.

“Yeah I think he’s improved over the years since then,” Joyce continued.

“But he’s always been a threat, if he hits you cleanly you are really going to feel it.

“That showed on the night because he got in there and landed a peach of a shot.

“It got Joshua in trouble very early and he was shaken up, which helped.

“I knew someone was getting knocked out, but I was only originally edging Joshua due to experience.”
