Cwinya-ai, currently ranked 251st in the world amateur rankings will tee off with the duo of Garcia Sebastian Rodriguez from Spain and Germany’s Schott Freddy.

This pool will have followed the very first set of players at this open; including Uganda’s professional Willy Deus Kitata alongside Arnaus Adria Antunez (Spain) and De Leo Gregorio (Italy) at 7:20 AM.

Antunez won the 2022 Catalunya championship on the European Tour.

The opportunity for Cwinya-ai to rub shoulders with the finest DP World Tour players will definitely make a significant step forward in his already impressive career.

Cwinyaai has been in remarkable form, demonstrating his skill and resilience on the international stage.

Earlier this year, he was invited to the R&A Amateur Championship at Leopard Creek, where he delivered the best score among all Ugandan players who traveled to South Africa.

His impressive record also includes a 4th-place finish at the concluded 2025 Rwanda Amateur Championship last week and a past victory at the Uganda Open in 2022.

Born and raised in the tourism city of Fort Portal, Cwinyaai honed his skills at the Toro Golf Club, a city known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich golf culture.

His journey from a promising young golfer to a globally recognized amateur has been nothing short of inspiring.

However, his impact extends beyond personal achievements—Cwinyaai is also a dedicated coach at the Afriyea Golf Academy, where he plays a crucial role in nurturing and inspiring young boys and girls to take up golf.

His mentorship has helped shape the next generation of Ugandan golfers, proving that his passion for the sport goes beyond personal success.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Cwinyaai expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to compete at such a high level.

“I am happy to be here at Muthaiga Golf Club for the Kenya Magical Open. This is a great competition that will enhance my experience and add to my resume. I am always proud to represent my country on such a big stage,” the Uganda amateur champion in 2021 stated.

Last year, Ronald Rugumayo (also from Fort Portal) became the first East African golfer to make the cut at the DP Tour event.

The 2025 Magical Kenya Open will tee off on the 20th February and climax by 23rd February at the Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi city, Kenya.

Darius van Driel is the reigning champion.

The total kitty at grabs is $2.5 million with the winner assured of $425,000.
