Joseph Parker wants to take on Daniel Dubois early next year, and has vowed to do what Anthony Joshua couldn’t.

Dubois recently defeated Joshua in spectacular fashion, dropping him four times in a stoppage defeat at Wembley Stadium to make a successful defence of his IBF heavyweight world title.

It was expected an immediate sequel would take place in Saudi Arabia in February 2025, with Turki Alalshikh looking to get a deal sealed.

But Joshua is carrying minor injuries and the planned fight date is likely now too soon for him, meaning Dubois needs a new opponent.

The IBF have informed Dubois that they will allow him to defend his strap against any of the top 15 contenders in the division.

Ranked third in the list, Parker is a prominent name in contention, and he has now made a call-out to make the deal official.

He said on talkSPORT Fight Night: “I have been very vocal about wanting to fight Daniel Dubois.

“I think he’s done exceptionally well, he done a great job against Anthony Joshua to get that devastating KO.

“He looked great versus Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua. But there’s a difference.

“I’m fresh, I’m hungry and ready to go. I’ve been waiting since March for a big fight, let’s get it on now.

“I feel like they have asked around different opponents to see which one fits, so there are a few hurdles to jump.

“But I feel like it can happen and I want it to happen, but hopefully everyone can come together and make it happen.”

Parker is in a rich vein of form which has seen him rocket up the heavyweight rankings.

The New Zealander has two big wins in the last year, beating Deontay Wilder last December before picking up victory over Zhilei Zhang in March.

He has yet to pencil in his next fight, but is waiting for a shot at a world title which could be tough in the current climate.

Dubois is the available champion with all the other belts tied up with Oleksandr Usyk, who will rematch Tyson Fury on December 21.

‘Dynamite’ is open to the bout and has stated he is willing to fight anyone who stands in his way.

And his promoter Frank Warren believes that is a showdown that he is particularly interested in.

“I like most of the fights for him and that is one of them,” Warren said of a possible bout with Parker.

“But we will see we are not going to be rushed into anything and we will look where we are and what to consider and then make a considered choice.

“But it has got to be something that suits everybody that is involved and more importantly something that suits Daniel because he is the champion.”
