FUFA Women Super League outfit Kampala Queens has on Tuesday announced the new player leadership ahead of the new season that gets underway on Friday.
The Queens of Soccer have confirmed Shamirah Nalugya as the first team captain, replacing goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro.
It should be noted that Nakaziro was appointed club captain towards the end of last season, replacing Zaina Namuleme who left the club.
The decision to remove the armband from the goalkeeper perhaps fuels the long standing speculation about her future at the club.
Whereas, Nakaziro is still at Kampala Queens, reports indicate she refused to sign a new deal and could be eyeing a move away from the team.
Defender Jamila Nabulime will be immediate assistant to Nalugya with Zaina Nandede serving as second assistant captain.
Kampala Queens will open the new season at home (MTN-Omondi Stadium) on Friday against Wakiso Hill WFC.
