Kampala Queens unveil Ethiopian coach

FUFA Women Super League outfit Kampala Queens FC has on Monday unveiled Ethiopian tactician Asefa Firew Hailegebreal as their new head coach.

The Club revealed he put pen to paper on a two-year deal, replacing Charles Ayiekoh who parted ways with the Queens of Soccer last week.

“Kampala Queens FC is pleased to announce Asefa Firew Hailegebreal as the new Head Coach on a 2-year contract deal.

Asefa, an Ethiopian by birth & former Ethiopia Women National Football Teams head coach takes over the new role from Charles Ayiekoh Lukula who left the club last week.” Reads the club statement.

Asefa is a respected coach in Ethiopia especially in women’s football having guided the Ethiopia U20 Team to CECAFA success in 2021 at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

He is also known for his free flowing style of play, and it is one of the new features expected of him at Kampala Queens FC.

At his new club, he is expected to ring a number of changes especially in the way the team plays. The performance has been far from convincing despite being second on the table on 9 points, four behind leaders Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC.
