Kamulindwa lits up Kileleesi Kwacha final leg with fourth career ace

The inaugural edition of the Kileleesi golf kwacha tournament successfully climaxed at the lake-side par 71 Entebbe club on Wednesday, 11th December 2024.

Joseph Reagan Akena, an amateur golfer defied the odds to beat the rest of the crop, including professionals and other top gross players to win the overall prize.

A member of Lugazi Hills and Country club, Akena amassed 212 nett in three legs played at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Uganda Golf Club and Entebbe, four shots better than Phillip Kasozi.

The duo of Walter Tukahirwa and Isaac Holy Ogwal tied in third place with 218 nett apiece.

The final leg in Entebbe also witnessed an eye-catching hole-in-one shot by David “Amooti” Kamulindwa on the par-3 hole 16, using a titlist 6-Iron PXG Pro V 1X club on the sunny afternoon.

This was witnessed by Ponsiano Kalema, Hassan Kiyemba and a one Ernest.

“I am overjoyed to shoot a hole-in-one. This is a rare shot but my swing was on at the time having hit a birdie on hole 15.” Kamulindwa who turned professional in 2018 stated.

This was the fourth hole-in-one career shot for Kamulindwa with the other two having been scored in Entebbe and another at his native course in Fort Portal.

Kamulindwa first had an ace in 2013 on the par-3 hole 6 in Entebbe. He scored his second in 2015 while in Fort Portal on hole 6 and the other was in Entebbe again on the par-3 hole 2 in 2019.

“I need to maintain catching the birdies; the hole in one is a bonus to my game” Kamulindwa adds.

There was another hole-in-one during the Kigo leg by Titus Okwong on the par-3 hole 7.

The Kileleesi Kwacha golf tournament allows amateurs and professionals mingle together.

This tourney was first played in May 2024 and has had Akena win both circuits.
