2024-2025 FUFA Big League (Match day 14):

Gaddafi 1-0 Paidha Black Angels

Gaddafi Football Club recorded a slim 1-0 home victory over Paidha Black Angels in the 2024-2025 FUFA Big League at the Works playground in Entebbe on Thursday, 9^th January 2025.

Super substitute Davis Kasirye was the hero with the all-important goal on the sunny afternoon before a sizable number of fans.

Kasirye struck a penalty with 20 minutes left on the clock moments after coming on for Congolese national Jonathan Mbula.

The penalty awarded by referee Ronald Kikaabi was contested by Paidha Black Angels players and fans alike after Kasirye fell inside the goal area following a tackle by captain Kalidi Odagiu.

One of the protesting Paidha Black Angels’ player was cautioned as Kasirye fired into the top right corner of the goal with the goalkeeper Tonny Kyamera going the opposite direction.

Before the goal, the visitors had posed all sorts of provocations to the Printers.

Pacy wingers Benjamin Opakrwoth and Jacob Opar were a real threat to the Gaddafi left back Simon Namwanja and right winger Dancan Ssemakula.

Fredrick Junior Mayindi and Joel Jangeyambe had opportunities thwarted by the on-colour goalkeeper Muhammed Ssekeba.

Gaddafi’s early chance to take the lead by skipper Thomas Kakaire was cleared off the line after being well set up by Mbula who rounded off goalkeeper Kyamera.

In the second half, Paidha Black Angels hit the lower post twice with efforts to find the equalizer and possible winner all gone down the drain.

Moments after the final whistle, a section of disgruntled fans damaged the internal perimeter wire mesh before the security personnel and match stewards came in to restore parity.

“I thank my players for the collective effort. We are taking a game at a time. I salute the management and fans for their brave efforts” Allan Kabonge, Gaddafi’s head coach remarked.

Gaddafi has now collected 29 points, three off from second placed Blacks Power.

These top two clubs (Gaddafi and Blacks Power) square off this Sunday, 12^th January 2025 at the Akii Bua playground in Lira city.

The other matches on the day shall witness Kigezi Home Boyz host Buhimba United Saints at Kigezi Homeboyz Arena, Kabale.

Booma will take on Busoga United at Masindi stadium and Kataka shall entertain Ntugasaze at the Mbale City stadium.

Meanwhile, Kaaro Karungi tussles out MYDA at the Kyamate stadium in Ntungamo

Kiyinda Boys squares up against Paidha Black Angels at the Bertham city ground, Kiwenda.

Calvary and Onduparaka will face off at the Midigo primary school ground.

Promotion:

The top three clubs will be promoted to the Uganda Premier League for the 2025-2026 season.

Demotion:

Four clubs will drop off and be relegated to the respective regional leagues.
