4th Ekibbiitu Ky’ebyemizannyo:
- Football: Buteyongela 5-1 Kakukuulu
- Netball: Nakifuuma 20-10 Ndese
- Cycling: Azizi Ssempijja
The fourth edition of the Ekibbiitu Ky’ebyemizannyo organized by sports enthusiast, businessman-cum-politician Sulaiman Kiwanuka successfully climaxed at Ndese church playgrounds in Nakifuuma, Mukono district.
The sports bonanza had epic action in football, netball, cycling and boxing.
In football, Buteyongela humiliated Kakukuulu 5-1 during a well sided duel watched by a big crowd at Ndese church playground.
Lethal forward Alex Mugenyi single handedly led the assault with five goals to his name for Buteyongela’s victory as they smiled home with a glittering trophy, gold medals, a bull, a set of jerseys and Ug.Shs 1,000,000.
The five goals took his tally for the tournament to 12 and he took the golden boot.
Dirisa Wasswa netted the consolation for Kakukuulu, their only goal on the sunny evening.
Kakukuulu won silver medals and Ug.Shs 5,000,000.
All the semi-finalists received a set of jerseys and every quarterfinalist got a football.
In Netball, Nakifuuma overcame Ndese 20-10 during the end to end affair.
The cycling event was held at Kabimbiri with celebrated cyclist Azizi Ssempijja winning the competition.
The boxing contests were at Kabimbiri town in the night with the main bout between Juma Roman and Depark.
The main organizer and funder Sulaiman Kiwanuka appreciated the different teams which took part in this sports festival, pledging to continue as he transforms Nakifuuma into a hub of sports in Uganda.
“I have a dream of turning around Nakifuuma as the Brazil of Uganda. This is the fourth time that I have organized the Ekibbiitu Ky’ebyemizannyo for the people of Nakifuuma. I love sports and I feel this is the time to transform our country through sports development. There are so many untapped talents in football, netball, boxing, cycling and other disciplines that we need to showcase and nurture” Kiwanuka revealed.
The event is an annual one and now remains one of the most attended by the people of Nakifuuma.
