KCCA FC returned to winning ways on Sunday after edging Wakiso Giants FC at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
The closely contested game ended on a controversial note with KCCA FC securing a 2-1 win.
Emmanuel Anyama’s winner was the point of contest with Video replays not clear whether the ball crossed the line or not.
However, the match officials counted the goal, a decision that left Wakiso Giants players and fans fuming.
Both teams came into the game with a string of poor results. Wakiso Giants are now winless in nine games while KCCA FC on the other hand had gone four without victory.
It was KCCA FC who came out of the blocks first with Etienne Katenga firing them into the lead in the 14th minute thanks to Sharif Ssengendo’s pass.
The home side were able to level matters 12 minutes through lanky forward Hudson Mbalire who headed home Timothy Oyamo’s cross.
The decisive moment arrived in the 57th when substitute Anyama fired from close distance.
Wakiso Giants goalkeeper James Alitho seemed to have saved the ball before crossing the line but the second assistant referee signed for goal, a decision that left a sour taste in the mouth for the hosts.
KCCA FC eventually held on to claim all three points to move up to third place on 22 points.
Wakiso Giants on the other hand remain rooted in the relegation zone in 14th place on 9 points.
