The Fortebet Real Stars award for the month of January 2025 will be held this coming week in Kampala city.
For the first time of asking, Kho Kho sport has been recognized among the sports to be rewarded.
This follows an outstanding performance during the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup held at the Indira Gandhi stadium in New Delhi city where Uganda scooped bronze.
The trio of Grace Ojiru, Erinah Nattabi and Rose Nankumba have been nominated from whom one will be crowned.
The three players were displayed overwhelming performances right from the group stage matches through to the knock out round.
At the group stages, Uganda won over Netherlands with a century plus score (102-10), England (30-45) and Australia (95-20).
Uganda only lost to Kenya in the groups to advance to the quarter finals as the best country in pool B.
At the quarter final level, Uganda easily marched to the semi-finals with a convincing 71-26 over New Zealand.
In the explosive semifinal showdown, Uganda fell to Nepal.
Other nominees:
In the sport of Rally, the crews of Ponsiano Lwakataka & Paul Musaazi, Ronald Sebuguzi & Anthony Mugambwa as well as Nasser Mutebi & Steven Bunya are all nominated.
Boxing:
For boxing, the trio of Majid Kabonge, Latibu Muwonge and Alfred Ojok are all on the nomination list.
The Fortebet Real Stars Awards are organized on a monthly basis by Real Stars Sports Agency.
These awards have been in place since 2018, growing in stature and respect.
