It’s been three days since the Kansas City Chiefs were beaten in the Super Bowl.

The three-peat chasing Chiefs were emphatically denied history by an all-conquering Philadelphia Eagles team who outplayed them in all three facets of the game to secure a resounding 40-22 victory.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce addressed the agonizing defeat in the latest episode of his award-winning New Heights podcast with brother Jason, set to release on Wednesday.

In an emotional tease ahead of the show, Travis reflected on the painful defeat, admitting his team ultimately wasn’t good enough to get the job done

He also lamented his own performance and what he could have done more.

“It just wasn’t our day,” he told Jason.

“Couldn’t find a lick of momentum.

“I’m kicking myself for some of the tiny decisions I made on the field.

“I wasn’t the best leader that I could be in motivating my guys and keeping my guys, you know, cool, calm, and collected.

“And I put a lot of that on myself as the guy that’s been in the building for 12 years and seen a lot of football and actually seen a situation just like this in the Super Bowl.

“It’s a tough pill to swallow. It’s a hard reality, man.”

The future Hall of Famer then discussed his love for his teammates, appearing to briefly get emotional but holding it together and delivering his message.

“I love my teammates, I love my coaches.

“Chiefs Kingdom, I’m sorry for how it ended. I have a beautiful life, man.

“I have loved ones, I have the most amazing family in the world that supports me in everything that I do, and they were all their cheering me on and hoping for the best on Sunday.

“I wish things could have been different, I wish I would have made better decisions early on and helped my guy Pat [Mahomes] out and helped my team to find that confidence or momentum

“But I have to tip my hat to the Eagles.”

It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Travis.

Kelce finished Super Bowl LIX with with four catches for 39 yards, surpassing Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for the most catches in Super Bowl history.

Unfortunately, it was not enough to stop the juggernaut Eagles, who outmatched the Chiefs in all three facets of the game.

“We haven’t played that bad all year,” Kelce said immediately after the game. “[We] just couldn’t find that spark, couldn’t find that momentum.”

Kelce is coming off the back of career lows since his 2013 rookie season of 823 receiving yards and three touchdown catches during the regular season.

Speculation is rife the 35-year-old will walk away from the sport this offseason, having already achieved so much while building up a lucrative personal brand thanks to his relationship with Taylor Swift.

He did not address his retirement after the Super Bowl, but running mate Patrick Mahomes did, saying Kelce would “spend some time with his family and make that decision on his own.”

“He’s given so much to this team and to the NFL,” the three-time Super Bowl MVP told reporters. “He has a lot of football left in him. You can see it. He always makes plays in the biggest moments, but it’s if he wants to put in that grind.

Kelce has hinted at retirement before, but on Super Bowl LIX Opening Night hinted he may want to stick around beyond that.

“Hopefully still playing football. I love doing this. I love coming into work every day. I feel like I still got a lot of good football left in me,” he told media.

“We’ll see what happens. I know I’ve been setting myself up for other opportunities in my life. That’s always been the goal, knowing that football only lasts for so long.”
