Henry Kitegenyi scored the lone goal as Mbarara City FC overcame Mbale Heores FC on Thursday to compel the latter’s relegation woes.

The gangly forward headed home from close range in the 80th minute to guide the Ankole Lions to victory.

Mbale Heroes find themselves rooted at the base of the table with only ten points from 16 teams.

The team has had a torrid stay in the top tier league with challenges off the pitch affecting their on-field performances.

Despite making changes both in the technical and playing staff, Mbale Heroes FC have failed to pick positive results and relegation is a reality with just 14 games left to the end of the season.

The result lifts Mbarara City FC to tenth place on 20 points.

In the other game played on Thursday, UPDF FC and Kitara FC settled for a barren stalement a result that moved the Army side to 12th position on 18 points while the Royals move to 8th place on 22 points.
