Koowe, Kisembo win 2024 Stanbic Match play challenge, Kigali clinches inter-clubs meet

2024 Stanbic Match play championship:

Overall Winners: Lillian Koowe & Joyce Kisembo (3/1)

Runners up: Tony Kisadha & Richard Mwami

3rd: Timothy Lwanga & Vincent Asiimwe (1 up sudden death play-off hole)

4th: Walter Tukahiirwa & Lambert Tumwesigye

Inter-club challenge:

Overall Winner: Kigali Golf Resort & Villas – 563 points

2nd: Uganda Golf Club – 537 points

3rd: Entebbe Club – 512 points

Perfection, dedication, determination, consistency and diligence defined the all-female golf pairing of Lillian Koowe and Joyce Kisembo as they clinched the 2024 Stanbic monthly golf mug overall prize at the lake side Entebbe club.

Right from the on-set, Koowe and Kisembo who hail from Tooro club in Fort Portal were focused to have their hands onto the ultimate prize.

Throughout the grueling rounds, this pairing had the belief coupled by the aggressive action to excel against all the odds.

Top performers at the final round of the 2024 Stanbic match play championship

During the final round played in October 2024, Koowe and Kisembo outsmarted their opposition, Tony Kisadha and Richard Mwami with ease, 3/1.

“It was a roll coaster of a journey. We worked really hard from the start and these are the fruits” an over joyed Kisembo noted.

Koowe attributed their victory to the harmonious team chemistry and commitment to perform well.

“The team combination and gel was top notch. We complimented each other and were determined to go an extra. We are happy for this victory” Koowe remarked.

Runners up get their air ticket during Stanbic match play

The winning pair was rewarded with a return air-ticket for each to Dubai, trophies and other rewards.

The runners up Tony Kisadha and Richard Mwami earned air-tickets each to South Africa courtesy of Uganda Airlines.

Timothy Lwanga & Vincent Asiimwe pipped Walter Tukahiirwa and Lambert Tumwesigye to third place after a 1- up sudden death play-off hole victory.

Inter-club challenge:

Meanwhile, the Inter-Club challenge between Entebbe, Uganda Golf Club and Rwanda’s Kigali was won by the later (Kigali Golf Resort & Villas).

Overall, Kigali Golf resort and villas managed a total of 563 points in three legs played in Kigali, Kampala and Entebbe.

Uganda Golf Club came second with 537 points and Entebbe club was third with 512 points.

For the leg in Entebbe, the top five members from Kigali Golf Resort and Villas amassed a total of 162 points and were followed by Uganda Golf Club (193).

Hosts Entebbe Club finished third with a total of 196 points.

The winning team was comprised of Celestine Ndagijimana (36), Olivier Ntambara (35), Andrew Kulayige (31), Simba Hundu (30) and Melisa Akangi (30).

Uganda Golf Club top performing five members were; Nathan Mubiru (41), Martin Kivumbi (38), Justina Ichabala (38), Sarah Nduhukira (38) and Ruth Akello (38).

Entebbe club had the likes of Peace Hellen (44), Arthur Arinaitwe (41), Llyod Busuulwa (37), Dennis Kahindi (37) and David Batanda (37).
