Kylian Mbappe’s lawyers have vowed to ‘go on the attack’ to recoup €55million (£47m) in unpaid wages from Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe sought €55m in salary and bonuses he believed was owed by club, but PSG claimed the superstar forward’s contract had been ‘legally amended’ and he went back on his commitments when he departed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer last summer.
The French football league’s governing body (LFP) ruled in favour of Mbappe over the club last October, which prompted PSG to take the matter to court.
However, the French Football Federation (FFF) deemed Mbappe’s request invalid due to an ongoing procedure in a civil court.
As a result, the 25-year-old’s legal team have stepped up their bid to secure the €55m by appealing for assistance from the French sports minister and UEFA.
They also claimed to have frozen €55m in PSG’s accounts via a Paris court.
“We have protectively seized the accounts of PSG, to the tune of €55m, this morning,” Thomas Clay, a member of Mbappe’s legal team, said.
Delphine Verheyden, who is Mbappe’s lead lawyer, added: “This story has been going on for just over a year now.
“One year was the deadline we set for ourselves for trying to resolve this dispute as peacefully as possible.
“As the months went by, Kylian Mbappe still hasn’t been paid the missing €55m.
“A decision has been taken, this time to go on the attack.”
The dispute stems back to when Mbappe renewed his contract with PSG in 2022.

Multiple reports claimed at the time if Mbappe left on a free transfer, he would forego a number of financial benefits, including bonuses, to compensate PSG.
Mbappe received a major upgrade on his PSG deal upon joining Real Madrid, as he inked a contract that earned him an eye-watering £13m-a-year in basic wages.
The transfer also including a whopping £128m signing-on fee, which is to be paid over a period of five years, the length of Mbappe’s contract with the club.
Mbappe departed PSG as their all-time record scorer with 244 goals in 291 appearances following his arrival from Monaco in 2017.
He also won an impressive five Ligue 1 titles with the French giants.
Since his switch to Madrid, Mbappe has registered 32 goals and four assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.
However, he trails Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski by three goals in the race for the golden boot in LaLiga.
Los Blancos are also four points behind Barcelona in the LaLiga table and are on the wrong side of a 3-0 deficit in their Champions League quarter-final tie against Arsenal.
