MK Dons are set to appoint Crawley Town manager Scott Lindsey as their new boss, talkSPORT understands.

Lindsey led the Red Devils to promotion from League Two via the play-offs last term, going up with Wrexham and Stockport County.

MK Dons lost manager Mike Williamson to League Two rivals Carlisle last week after the Cumbria side’s terrible start to the campaign.

After missing out on promotion after a play-off semi-final defeat to Crawley last term, MK currently sit 19th in League Two.

But talkSPORT understands Lindsey is set to drop back down to the fourth tier to guide MK back up the table.

Crawley and MK have struck an agreement which is expected to be announced on Wednesday.

That’s despite Crawley sitting 18th in League One following two wins, one draw and three losses to begin the season.

When asked about being favourite to takeover at MK before his Crawley’s 2-1 loss to Wrexham, he said: “My full focus is here.

“Whilst you’re getting linked to jobs, I think that proves that you’re doing something right.

“So it’s always a positive in many ways. But my full focus is here until I’m told otherwise.

“But I think it is a really good job for somebody but until I’m told otherwise, my focus is on this football club.”

Crawley lost a number of stars over the summer, including Corey Addai and Liam Kelly, who signed for Stockport and MK respectively.

52-year-old Lindsey saved Crawley from relegation after joining in January 2023, moving there from Swindon Town.

He had been the Robins’ manager since June 2022 after taking over from Ben Garner following his switch to Charlton.

Lindsey served as Lincoln caretaker manager in 2010 and also managed Kent-based Chatham Town from 2019 to 2021.

Crawley defied all the odds last term, with Lindsey guiding them to promotion despite being tipped for relegation at the start of the season.
