Leeds v Middlesbrough predictions

Leeds got back to winning ways on Saturday lunchtime with a 2-0 victory over Derby, bouncing back from their surprise 1-0 defeat by Blackburn in their previous match, to take Daniel Farke’s side to within a point of the top of the Championship table.

The West Yorkshire side currently boast the best home record in the second tier this season, which includes seven wins on the trot at Elland Road, conceding just twice in those matches ahead of tonight’s huge clash.

The Whites have won four of their last five matches and will see tonight as a chance to reach the top of the Championship table and pile the pressure on Sheffield United, who currently occupy top spot, and who don’t play until tomorrow in a tricky trip to Millwall.

Middlesbrough make the short trip to Leeds with just one win from their last three matches, but did manage to hold Burnley to a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor on Friday night, with the Clarets having started the night in the two, and will back themselves to take more points off an automatic promotion chasing side tonight.

Only one team have picked up more wins away from home in the Championship this season than Michael Carrick’s side, who have scored 14 goals in their last four away games alone, and has seen them climb up to fifth in the league.

Boro travel to Elland Road having lost just one of their last six matches, of which they’ve won four, and unbeaten in their last four games away from home, which includes difficult trips to Burnley and Norwich, and will fancy their chances of upsetting the home crowd tonight.

I predict Leeds will be too strong for Middlesbrough tonight and add to their seven match winning run at home, though I’m sure the visitors won’t make it easy for them – I’m backing a 2-1 home win.

Leeds v Middlesbrough betting tips

Six goals and seven assists for Middlesbrough this season, including nine goal contributions in his last five matches has seen Finn Azaz become the second highest goal contributor in the league this season, whilst also assisting the joint-most goals in the division.

Leeds’ seven home wins on the spin combined with Middlesbrough having won just one of their last three matches leads to me to believe the home side will win all three points, though 19 goals in Boro’s last six games suggests they will at least find the net.
