Legislator Sserubula’s dream for Kyaggwe Ssaza ahead of 2024 Buganda Masaza Cup finals

It is a few days to the long awaited 2024 Buganda Masaza cup final between two-time winners Buddu and Kyaggwe at the Mandela National Stadium.

As Kyaggwe Ssaza seeks for their maiden trophy in the championship on their first time of asking in the finals, Buddu will be eyeing the third trophy.

Legislator Hon. Steven Sserubula Kinnalwa is the Kyaggwe Ssaza chairperson.

Hon. Sserubula, the member of parliament for Lugazi Municipality has a dream to lift the trophy as chairperson of the steering committee.

“I am honoured that I am the first chairperson to guide Kyaggwe to the final of the Masaza Cup. It would be fulfilling to win the trophy in style” Hon. Sserubula stated.

Hon. Sserubula made the remarks as he was addressing the media at Lazo Bar and Restaurant, Kololo during the awarding ceremony for the October 2024 Fortebet Real Stars awards.

He was among the Kyaggwe Ssaza feted for achieving the feat alongside the head coach David Katono Mutono, Greg Kikomeko (secretary) and the chief Vincent Matovu Bintubizibu (Ssekiboobo).

“This is a great moment to be recognized for the great effort done to qualify for the final of the Masaza Cup. We are ready to die alittle for the team and win the trophy, the first ever in our history” Hon. Sserubula, also the member of parliament for Lugazi Municipality stated.

Kyaggwe made the finals after a 2-1 aggregate victory over Buweekula in the semi-finals.

The first leg at Mukono Bishops SS playground ended 2-1 in favour of Kyaggwe before a goalless draw in Mubende for the second leg.

Buddu eliminated Kyaddondo 4-2 on aggregate after two legs.

During the first leg, Buddu won 3-1 at the Muteesa II Wankulukuku stadium with the second leg ending all square 1-all.

The third-place play off will be between Buweekula and Kyaddondo at noon.

A mammoth gathering is expected to grace the grand finale at Mandela National Stadium.
