Leicester City vs Manchester City predictions
It is a measure of how far Manchester City have fallen that a 1-1 draw at home to Everton does not seem like an awful result.
Pep Guardiola’s side were unable to emerge victorious on Boxing Day, but they at least avoided what would have been a seventh defeat of the Premier League campaign.
Bernardo Silva gave the home team the lead at the Etihad Stadium, after which Iliman Ndiaye restored parity with a well-taken goal.
City had a golden chance to go back ahead from the penalty spot, but Jordan Pickford came up trumps to deny Erling Haaland.
The defending champions fashioned several other opportunities on the day, yet they found Everton in obstinate and resolute form.
That draw means City have won just one of their last 13 matches in all competitions, an extraordinary run for a team who have been so imperious for so long.
The title has already gone and a top-four finish is far from guaranteed. City head into Sunday’s showdown in seventh place. At the time of writing they are five points adrift of the final Champions League qualification berth.
Guardiola was keen to take the positives from the Everton game and it is true that his players delivered a much-improved performance. On the balance of play, City would have won that game eight times out of 10.
“We shot I don’t know how many shots,” the manager said. “The first half was brilliant and the first 10 or 15 minutes of the second half was really good.
“The performance and the way the guys have done in the situation were brilliant. We didn’t score the goals we need but there are games where I don’t like what I see: today that was not the case.”
It is vital that City return to winning ways as quickly as possible and the bookies fancy their chances of doing so at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester City dropped into the bottom three after the Boxing Day fixtures. They took a surprise lead against Liverpool at Anfield but went on to lose 3-1.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has a massive job on his hands to keep the Foxes up. In truth, Leicester are yet to play well under their new manager.
Leicester City vs Manchester City betting tips
Both Leicester City and Manchester City will be aiming to end the calendar year on a high.
Manchester City to win and over 2.5 goals
If Manchester City perform as they did on Boxing Day, they should have too much quality for Leicester City.
Everton are defensively stubborn and it is not easy to break them down. Neither Arsenal nor Chelsea managed it in December, with both teams drawing 0-0 with the Merseysiders.
Leicester, to put it bluntly, are not as good at shutting out opposition attacks. They have conceded 40 goals so far, the joint-worst record in the top flight. Only Southampton have given up more expected goals.

At the same time, the champions are struggling to keep clean sheets. If they were to concede here, City would need to score twice to win.
All of which suggests there is a good chance we will see at least three goals.

Manchester City to win the first half
Manchester City have been slow out of the blocks in many recent games, including the 2-1 loss to Aston Villa last weekend.
That was not the case against Everton, though, and we anticipate another quick start from Guardiola’s men here.
Leicester have been behind at the interval on 11 occasions, more than anyone else in the Premier League.
The Foxes do not fare well from minutes one to 45. For all their struggles of late, Manchester City can take full advantage of that shortcoming.

Erling Haaland to score first
Haaland is one of several Manchester City players who has seen his form desert him over the last few weeks.
The Norway international has found the back of the net just three times in his last 13 Premier League appearances.
Given that Haaland does not offer a great deal outside of making the net bulge, it is vital that he rediscovers his shooting boots quickly.
Sunday’s game at the King Power represents a fantastic opportunity for Haaland to do just that. Leicester City are one of the weakest defensive teams in the division and they remain without their first-choice goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.
Haaland can draw first blood by firing City into the lead against Leicester.
