Nottingham Forest head into tonight’s East Midlands derby having surprised many in their unexpected start to the new Premier League campaign, making huge strides in their progress having finished 17th last side to reach the stage where they currently sit in the top eight.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have only lost one of their eight matches in the league so far this season, with notable results coming in a victory at Anfield and a draw at Stamford Bridge.

Forest remain to date the only side Liverpool have failed to beat in any competition this season, and will take full confidence into tonight’s derby as they make the short trip south as favourites for victory at the King Power.

Nuno’s side have only won one of their last four matches but still sit just two points off the top five and four points off the Champions League places, so will see tonight’s derby as a huge opportunity to extend their fantastic start and climb further up the table.

Leicester appear to have found their feet in the Premier League after a slow start to the campaign following their promotion as Championship title winners last season, with the Foxes having gone winless in their opening six league games this time out.

Steve Cooper, who took over the side in the summer following Enzo Maresca’s departure for Chelsea, has since led his side to back-to-back victories though, and, like Forest, their will be a highly optimistic mood in camp ahead of tonight’s match as they look to make it three in a row.

Wins against Bournemouth and Southampton in recent weeks have seen Cooper’s side climb out of relegation trouble, with the team heading into the weekend 14th in the table, and with knowledge that a win would take them into the top half overnight.

The Foxes have lost just one of their last six matches, leaving tonight’s derby a hugely intriguing affair with both sides confidence of victory ahead of kick-off.

Leicester have won only one of their last five games against Forest, with four of those games with the Nottingham side under the tutelage of Cooper, who will be leading the Foxes for the first time in an East Midlands derby tonight.

Nottingham Forest have won only one of their last seven visits to the King Power Stadium though, dating back to 2005, with their most recent visit ending in a 4-0 defeat.
